George G. Sadowski
George Gregory Sadowski (March 12, 1903 – October 9, 1961) was an American lawyer and politician who served three terms in the United States House of Representatives from the U.S. state of Michigan from 1933 to 1939. Early life and education Sadowski was born in Detroit in a Polish-American family where he attended Ferry School. He attended high school in Foley, Alabama, and then returned to Detroit, where he graduated from Northeastern High School in 1920 and from the law department of the University of Detroit in 1924. He was admitted to the bar in 1926 and commenced practice in Detroit. He was involved in the real estate and building businesses and later became the owner of two golf clubs. He was also a member of Polish National Alliance. Michigan's 1st congressional district is a United States congressional district containing the entire Upper Peninsula of Michigan and 16 counties of Northern Michigan in the Lower Peninsula. The district is currently represented by Republican Jack Bergman. Geography The district is the second-largest congressional district east of the Mississippi River by land area, only behind Maine's 2nd congressional district. Its boundaries contain the entire Upper Peninsula of Michigan and much of the northern part of the Lower Peninsula. Altogether, the district makes up about 44% of the land area of the state of Michigan, it only contains 7% of the state's population. Utica, Michigan
Utica is a city in Macomb County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 4,757 at the 2010 census. History The city now known as Utica was platted by Joseph Stead in 1817, who preferred to call it "Harlow." Others referred to the city as "Hog's Hollow" or "McDougalville," until a few years later it was finally named Utica by settlers from New York, in honor of the city of the same name in that state.
