George Frederick Street Berton (December 10, 1808 – January 31, 1840) was a lawyer from Burton Parish in Sunbury County, New Brunswick. Burton is a Canadian rural community in Sunbury County, New Brunswick. Geography Located on the Wolastoq River immediately downstream (southeast) of Oromocto on New Brunswick Route 102. Burton is the shire town of the county and is the location of the Sunbury County court house (). Services Burton has an elementary school for children from kindergarten to grade 2, educating about 40 students at a given time. Older children go to various other Anglophone West schools located in Oromocto. Burton also has a court house and a general store, Ultramar. The first gas station in Burton was opened by the late Mr. Bonnar, eventually run by his son and sold to Mr. Finnan in the 1970s. It remained a full-service Petro-Canada until its closure in 2003 (). Sunbury County (2016 population 27,644) is located in central New Brunswick, Canada. A large military base (CFB Gagetown) is located in the western part of the county south of the town of Oromocto. The county also hosts forestry and mixed farming. Burton is the county shiretown. Samuel Denny Street
Samuel Denny Street (May 16, 1752 – December 11, 1830) was an English-born lawyer and political figure in New Brunswick. He represented Sunbury County in the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick from 1795 to 1802 and from 1809 to 1816. Career Youth and military service He was born in Southwark, the son of Thomas Street and Ann Lee. Street apprenticed with a London attorney and practiced law for a time before joining the Royal Navy. During his time in the navy he served under Lieutenant-General Thomas Gage at Boston. After his discharge from the navy he went to Halifax, Nova Scotia in 1776, joined the Royal Fencible Americans, and was sent to Fort Cumberland (near Sackville, New Brunswick) later that year with his regiment. While stationed at Fort Cumberland in 1778, he married Abigail Freeman. Street took part in a number of missions to Maine during the American Revolutionary War. In 1781, he was captured. George Duncan Ludlow
George Duncan Ludlow (29 September 1734 – 13 November 1808) was a lawyer and Puisne Judge of the Supreme Court of the British Province of New York in the Thirteen Colonies who became the first Chief Justice of New Brunswick in Canada. Early life Ludlow was born on 29 September 1734 in Queens County on Long Island in the Province of New York in what was then British America. He was the son of Gabriel Ludlow (1704–1773), a merchant, and Frances ( née Duncan) Ludlow. Among his siblings was his younger brother Gabriel George Ludlow. After his mother's death, his father married Elizabeth Crommelin, with whom he had Daniel Ludlow, George's younger half-brother. John Ambrose Street
John Ambrose Street, (September 22, 1795 – May 5, 1865) was a lawyer and political figure in New Brunswick. He represented Northumberland County in the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick from 1833 to 1842 and from 1843 to 1856. He was born in Burton, New Brunswick, the son of Samuel Denny Street and Abigail Freeman, and was educated there and in Fredericton. He studied law with his father and was called to the bar in 1817. Street lived in Newcastle from 1823 to 1845. He served as registrar of wills and deeds for Northumberland County and as a member of the county board of health. In 1823, he married Jane Isabella, the daughter of William Hubbard, who had represented Sunbury County in the provincial assembly. Street was first elected to the provincial assembly in an 1833 by-election held after Joseph Cunard resigned his seat. In 1837, he was named Queen's Counsel.
