George Duran
George Duran (born January 13, 1975) is an Armenian-American chef and entertainer who is currently a spokesman in commercials for Hunt's tomatoes. He also became host of TLC's ''Ultimate Cake Off'' in its second season. Biography Duran was born George Kevork Guldalian in Caracas, Venezuela, to parents of Armenian descent originating from Lebanon. They later immigrated to the United States where they became naturalized Americans. Duran attended New York University, majoring in Communications Studies. It was there where he began to pursue his interests of television and radio production. Hosting the ''HYE Time'' radio show on WNYU, he won an award for Best Radio Talk Show at the National Association of College Broadcasters in 1996. Duran continued in radio, working as an on-air personality for comedy segments at WPLJ in New York. He moved on to WABC radio in 1999 where he produced and performed more comedy sketches. The National Association of College Broadcasters (NACB), was founded in 1988 by four undergraduate students at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. Jumpstarted by a $300,000 grant from the now-defunct CBS Foundation, thanks to connections through the father of co-founder Doug Liman, NACB became the first trade association specifically geared to all aspects of American student-staffed radio and television stations. The ''7 d'Or'' or ''Sept d'Or'' (French for "Seven of Gold" or "Golden Seven") was a French television production award (similar in nature to the Emmy Awards), presented by '' Télé 7 Jours'' (a weekly French magazine with listings of TV shows). The awards were presented in the fall of each year from 1985 to 2003 (no awards were presented in 1992, 1998 and 2002) during a televised "Night of the 7 d'Or" awards ceremony (1988 and 2003 were not televised). The first ceremonies took place in Le Lido in Paris. Since 2003, several attempts have been made to bring back the "7 d'Or" awards.
