Georg Klein (German Writer)
Georg Klein (born 1953 in Augsburg) is a German novelist. He lives in ( Bunde), Lower Saxony. His wife is also a writer. In September 2012 he was keynote speaker at the British Council sponsored Edinburgh World Writers' Conference in Berlin. Having worked for many years as a ghost-writer Klein was discovered in 2001 with his detective story ''Barbar Rosa''. Bunde, Germany
Bunde is a municipal district in East Frisia, in Lower Saxony, Germany, about south of Emden, Germany, and east of Groningen, Netherlands. It lies on the southern tip of the Dollart, a bay of the North Sea between Germany and the Netherlands, and has a land border with the Netherlands. Bunde is among the smaller districts of East Frisia, with a population of 7,607 (as of 2015). About half live in the town of Bunde itself. Ingeborg Bachmann Prize
The Festival of German-Language Literature (german: Tage der deutschsprachigen Literatur, links=no) is a literary event which takes place annually in Klagenfurt, Austria. During this major literary festival which lasts for several days a number of awards are given, the major one being the Ingeborg Bachmann Prize, first awarded in 1977 and one of the most important awards for literature in the German language. History In the mid seventies, the journalist and writer Humbert Fink and the chairman of the Austrian Radio and TV (ORF) studio in Carinthia at that time, Ernst Willner, decided to establish a literary competition based on an event held by Gruppe 47. They were able to enlist Marcel Reich-Ranicki amongst others onto the original jury. Lower Saxony State Prize
The Lower Saxony State Prize (german: Niedersächsischer Staatspreis, links=no) has been awarded by the State of Lower Saxony since 2002. From 1978 to 1999 it was called the Lower Saxony Prize (german: Niedersachsenpreis, links=no). The award is presented by the Prime Minister of Lower Saxony. The prize has been awarded to personalities who have made outstanding services to the state through their outstanding work in the fields of culture, women, social affairs, science, the environment or the economy. Kranichsteiner Literaturpreis is a literary prize of Germany. The Deutsche Literaturfonds (German Literature Fund) based in Darmstadt has been awarding the prize since 1983. The prize money was raised in 2019 from €20,000 to €30,000. In addition to the main prize, the Kranichsteiner Literaturförderpreis is also awarded. In 2020 the Deutsche Literaturfonds renamed the prize to Großer Preis des Deutschen Literaturfonds (Grand Prize of the German Literature Fund) and the prize money has been raised to €50,000. ''The Guardian'' is a British daily newspaper. It was founded in 1821 as ''The Manchester Guardian'', and changed its name in 1959.
