Georg Brückner
Johann Georg Martin Brückner (31 October 1800 in Oberneubrunn – 1 July 1881 in Meiningen) was a German historian and geographer. He attended the gymnasium in Schleusingen, and from 1921 studied at the University of Jena. Afterwards, he taught classes in Klein Glienicke, near Potsdam, and in 1831 was named rector at the ''Bürgerschule'' in Hildburghausen. From 1841 he was a professor at the ''Realschule'' in Meiningen. From 1866 to 1875 he was director of the ''Hennebergischen Alterthumsforschenden Vereins'' (Henneberg Antiquarian Research Association). ''Allgemeine Deutsche Biographie'' (ADB, german: Universal German Biography) is one of the most important and comprehensive biographical reference works in the German language. It was published by the Historical Commission of the Bavarian Academy of Sciences between 1875 and 1912 in 56 volumes, printed in Leipzig by Duncker & Humblot. The ADB contains biographies of about 26,500 people who died before 1900 and lived in the German language Sprachraum of their time, including people from the Netherlands before 1648. Its successor, the '' Neue Deutsche Biographie'', was started in 1953 and is planned to be finished in 2023. The index and full-text articles of ADB and NDB are freely available online via the website ''German Biography'' (''Deutsche Biographie''). Principality Of Reuss-Gera
The Principality of Reuss-Gera (german: Fürstentum Reuß-Gera), called the Principality of the Reuss Junior Line (german: Fürstentum Reuß jüngerer Linie) after 1848, was a sovereign state in modern Germany, ruled by members of the House of Reuss. It was one of the successor states of the Imperial County of Reuss. The Counts Reuss, with their respective capitals and ''Residenzen'' at Gera, Schleiz, Lobenstein, Köstritz and Ebersdorf, were all elevated to the title of prince (''Fürst'') in 1806. Their successor branch heads shared that title, while their cadets were also each titled prince (''Prinz''). Johann Christoph Friedrich von Schiller (, short: ; 10 November 17599 May 1805) was a German playwright, poet, and philosopher. During the last seventeen years of his life (1788–1805), Schiller developed a productive, if complicated, friendship with the already famous and influential Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. They frequently discussed issues concerning aesthetics, and Schiller encouraged Goethe to finish works that he had left as sketches. This relationship and these discussions led to a period now referred to as Weimar Classicism.
