Geoffrey R. Waters
Geoffrey R Waters (1948–2007) was an American poet, and translator. He served as a Field Artillery officer. He graduated from Vanderbilt University with a BA degree in history and Chinese, and from Indiana University Indiana University (IU) is a system of public universities in the U.S. state of Indiana. A poet is a person who studies and creates poetry. Poets may describe themselves as such or be described as such by others. A poet may simply be the creator ( thinker, songwriter, writer, or author) who creates (composes) poems (oral or written), or they may also perform their art to an audience. The English language draws a terminological distinction (which does not exist in every language) between ''translating'' (a written text) and '' interpreting'' (oral or signed communication between users of different languages); under this distinction, translation can begin only after the appearance of writing within a language community.
