Geoffrey Brown (Australian Politician)
Geoffrey William Brown (25 April 1894 – 14 October 1955) was an Australian politician. The son of Dr. Henry William Brown and Clara Treacher Brown (née Williams), he was born in Colac, Victoria, on 25 April 1894. He attended Geelong Grammar School from 1908 to 1911 and then Christ College at Cambridge University in England where he graduated with a degree in natural sciences. He served in the British Expeditionary Force for five years from 1914 to 1919, being severely wounded and appointed M.B.E. and was then with the British Colonial Service for four years in England and Nigeria. Brown is believed to have served with the Royal West Kent Regiment in France and Belgium, being wounded at the Battle of Loos Appointed MBE on 7 June 1918, he was then posted as a lieutenant in the role of administrative officer and assistant adjutant at a School of Instruction. Geoffrey Edmund Brown (born 4 April 1924) is a former Australian male tennis player, born in Murrurundi, New South Wales, Australia. He attended Parramatta Marist High School in 1938-9 before joining the R.A.A.F as a gunner. He was demobilised at the end of the war and returned to playing tennis. Brown was runner-up in the 1946 Wimbledon Championships singles final, losing in five sets to Yvon Petra, and doubles final playing with Dinny Pails. He also reached the doubles finals at the 1949 Australian Championships and 1950 Wimbledon Championships, in both he was partnered by compatriot Bill Sidwell and in both finals they lost to John Bromwich and Adrian Quist. He reached the quarterfinal at the 1949 Wimbledon Championships by defeating US champion Pancho Gonzales in the fourth round. Geoff Brown (businessman)
Geoffrey Stewart Brown OBE (born c. 1943) is a Scottish businessman. He was chairman of St Johnstone from 1986 until November 2011. In 1970, Brown founded G. S. Brown Construction, which specialises in homebuilding. Brown is still chairman of the company, which is a family business, with two of his sons also on the board of directors. In June 2011, it was revealed that the company was set to become the shirt sponsors of the club, to mark Brown's quarter-century as chairman. Brown took control of St Johnstone in 1986, when they were in deep financial trouble and near the bottom of the Scottish Football League. A rights issue raised £150,000, which solved the club's short-term financial problems. Alex Totten was soon appointed as manager. Leo Dorfman (February 17, 1914 – July 9, 1974) (also credited as Geoff Brown and David George) was an American writer of comic books throughout the Silver Age. Although the majority of his work was for DC Comics, he also wrote for Dell Comics and Gold Key Comics. Early life Dorfman grew up on New York City's Lower East Side.
