Jeffrey Brown (born July 1975) is an American cartoonist born in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Biography Early life and education After growing up in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Brown moved to Chicago in 2000 to pursue an MFA at the School of the Art Institute. By the time he finished his studies, Brown had abandoned painting and started drawing comics seriously. Career Brown specializes in personal and intimate works detailing moments in relationships. He writes and draws his comics in sketchbooks, and his drawing style mirrors the strain and awkwardness of the situations he depicts. His first self-published book, ''Clumsy'' (2002), appeared seemingly out of nowhere to grab attention from cartoonists and comics fans, alike. Brown wrote and drew ''Clumsy'' while at the School of the Art Institute. Jeffrey Brown (journalist)
Jeffrey Brown (born 1956) is an American journalist, who is a senior correspondent for the ''PBS NewsHour''. His reports focus on arts and literature, and he has interviewed numerous writers, poets, and musicians. Brown has worked most of his professional career at PBS and has written a poetry collection called ''The News''. Early life and education Brown was born in 1956 to Morton Brown and Mirriam "Micki" Brown (née Decter). He has four siblings, and grew up in Belmont, Massachusetts. He graduated from high school in 1974. Brown studied Classics at the University of California, Berkeley, earning a bachelor's degree. He planned to pursue a PhD subsequently in order to become an academic, but finally decided he wanted to be a law journalist. Brown did a joint program at Berkeley Law and the Columbia Journalism School. He first studied law for two years and then studied journalism for one year. Jeffrey "Jeff" Brown is a former Republican state assemblyman in New York. He represented suburban areas around Syracuse. Brown was first elected to the Assembly in 2002, succeeding his father, former Assemblyman Harold Brown. An attorney, Brown worked in Congress and was the chief attorney for the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation in central New York State. Brown serves as a captain in the 174th Fighter Wing at Hancock Field. He is currently the ranking minority member of the Assembly Veterans Affairs Committee. Brown did not seek a third term in the Assembly in 2006. He instead ran for the State Senate, challenging one term Democratic Sen. Jeffrey Robert Brown (born February 16, 1968) is the dean of the Gies College of Business of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Previously he was the William G. Karnes Professor in the Department of Finance and the Director of the Center for Business and Public Policy. He serves as a research associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research and as Associate Director of the NBER Retirement Research Center. Since 2009 he has served as a Trustee for TIAA, the operating company of TIAA-CREF. From October 2006 through September 2008, he served as a member of the Social Security Advisory Board.
