Domenico Sarro
Domenico Natale Sarro, also Sarri (24 December 1679 – 25 January 1744) was an Italian composer. Born in Trani, Apulia, he studied at the Neapolitan conservatory of S. Onofrio. He composed extensively in the early 18th century. His opera ''Didone abbandonata'', premiered on 1 February 1724 at the Teatro San Bartolomeo in Naples, was the first setting of a major libretto by Pietro Metastasio. He is best remembered today as the composer of '' Achille in Sciro'', the opera that was chosen to open the new Teatro di San Carlo in 1737. Of his many intermezzi, 'Dorina e Nibbio' or L'impresario delle Isole Canarie (1724) has had an extensive performance history. Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra (; 29 September 1547 (assumed) – 22 April 1616 Old Style and New Style dates, NS) was an Early Modern Spanish writer widely regarded as the greatest writer in the Spanish language and one of the world's pre-eminent novelists. Matteo Capranica
Matteo Capranica (26 August 1708 – c. 1776) was an Italian composer. Born in Amatrice, Capranica studied at the Conservatorio di Sant'Onofrio a Porta Capuana in Naples under Nicola Porpora, Ignazio Prota, and Francesco Feo. After completing his studies he worked as maestro di cappella at various churches in Naples and devoted himself to music composition of both sacred and secular works. He was for many years organist at the Naples Cathedral. His first opera, ''Carlo'', premiered at the Teatro Nuovo in Naples in 1736. He went on to compose eight more operas through 1753. ''L'Alidoro'' is a 1740 comic opera by Leonardo Leo. The opera was rediscovered with other three other Leo operas at the Abbey of Montecassino.Graham Hood. Leonardo Leo (1694-1744) and His Comic Operas Amor vuol sofferenze and Alidoro (Ph.D., Musicology, Cornell Univ., 1973). Characters Giangrazio is the father of Don Marciello and Alidoro, but the latter has disappeared. Giangrazio's brother, Lamberto is now dead and has left behind a daughter, Elisa, and a step-daughter, Faustina. Faustina is already in love with Luigi, and Elisa falls in love with Ascanio. Giangrazio plans to marry Don Marciello to Faustina. Giovan Gualberto Brunetti (Pistoia, 24 April 1706 – Pisa, 20 May 1787) was an Italian composer.
