General Zaragoza, Nuevo León
General Zaragoza is a municipality and town of the northeastern Mexican state of Nuevo León. It is located in the south-eastern part of the state. The town is at . The municipality has a total area of 508 square miles (1,315 km2) and had a population of 5,942 in 2010. Most of the population lives in the town of Zaragoza. The elevation of Zaragoza is 4,520 feet (1,379 m). Zaragoza is bordered by Aramberri, Nuevo Leon, Aramberri, on the south and east by Hidalgo, Tamaulipas, and on the west by Doctor Arroyo. Zaragoza is named in honor of General Ignacio Zaragoza who fought against the French invaders at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862. General Zaragoza (Nuevo León)
Ignacio Zaragoza Seguín (; March 24, 1829September 8, 1862) was a Mexican general and politician. He led the Mexican army of 600 men that defeated 6,500 Second French intervention in Mexico, invading French forces, including the elite French legionnaires at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862 (mostly celebrated in the United States as ''Cinco de Mayo''). Early life Ignacio Zaragoza was born in the Mexican Texas, Mexican province of Texas, in the village of Presidio La Bahia, Bahía del Espíritu Santo, in the state of Coahuila y Tejas (now Goliad, Texas, in the United States) on March 24th in 1829. Soto La Marina River
The Soto La Marina River or Soto la Marina is a river of northeastern Mexico. Geography The headwaters of the Soto La Marina are in the Sierra Madre Oriental in pine-oak forests at an elevation of about 3,000 m (9,800 ft) in the municipality of General Zaragoza, Nuevo León. The vegetation at the headwaters is Sierra Madre Oriental pine-oak forest. The Sierra Madre Oriental () is a mountain range in northeastern Mexico. The Sierra Madre Oriental is part of the American Cordillera, a chain of mountain ranges (cordillera) that consists of an almost continuous sequence of mountain ranges that form the western "backbone" of North America, Central America, South America, and Antarctica. Nuevo León () is a state in the northeast region of Mexico.
