General Girão
Eliéser Girão Monteiro Filho, also known as General Girão (8 May 1955), is a Brazilian politician and military officer, affiliated to the PSL. He is currently a federal deputy for the state of Rio Grande do Norte. Biography Girão was born in Fortaleza, on 8 May 1955. He joined the Brazilian Army in February 1973. He graduated in Military Sciences at the Military Academy of Agulhas Negras – AMAN, on 14 December 1976, being declared an Aspirant-to-Officer of the Infantry Weapon. He has all the military courses required for the full career of an officer in the Brazilian Army. In the rank of Captain, Girão completed the Infantry Weapons Officer Training Course at the School for the Improvement of Officers – ESAO. As a senior officer, he completed the Army Command and Staff Courses and the Army Policy, Strategy and Senior Management Course, both from the Army Command and Staff School – ECEME. The Chamber of Deputies ( pt, Câmara dos Deputados) is a federal legislative body and the lower house of the National Congress of Brazil. The chamber comprises 513 deputies, who are elected by proportional representation to serve four-year terms. The current President of the Chamber is the Deputy Arthur Lira ( PP- AL), who was elected on 1 February 2021. Structure The number of deputies elected is proportional to the size of the population of the respective state (or of the Federal District) as of 1994. However, no delegation can be made up of less than eight or more than seventy seats. Thus the least populous state elects eight federal deputies and the most populous elects seventy. These restrictions favour the smaller states at the expense of the more populous states and so the size of the delegations is not exactly proportional to population. The ''Academia Militar das Agulhas Negras'' (AMAN, en, Military Academy of Agulhas Negras - named after the Agulhas Negras summit) is the biggest among several schools of formation of combatant officers of the Brazilian Army.
