General Electric LMS100
The General Electric LMS100 (Land Marine Supercharged) is an aero derivative gas turbine produced by GE Distributed Power. Design and development The LMS100 PA produces approximately 100 MW at an efficiency of around 46% LHV in open cycle operation. It is currently the largest and most efficient aero-derivative gas turbine. It is able to produce full rated power in under 10 minutes. The LMS100 comprises a low-pressure compressor, an intercooler, a supercore and a power turbine. The supercore (comprising a HP compressor, compressor rear frame, high-pressure turbine and intermediate pressure turbine) is a further development of the LM6000, which in turn was based on the CF6-80C2. The low-pressure compressor is from the 6FA industrial gas turbine. The first LMS100 engine entered commercial operation in July 2006 and a second unit in 2008. A gas turbine, also called a combustion turbine, is a type of continuous flow internal combustion engine. The main parts common to all gas turbine engines form the power-producing part (known as the gas generator or core) and are, in the direction of flow: * a rotating gas compressor * a combustor * a compressor-driving turbine. Additional components have to be added to the gas generator to suit its application. Common to all is an air inlet but with different configurations to suit the requirements of marine use, land use or flight at speeds varying from stationary to supersonic. A propelling nozzle is added to produce thrust for flight. The General Electric LM2500 is an industrial and marine gas turbine produced by GE Aviation. The LM2500 is a derivative of the General Electric CF6 aircraft engine. As of 2004, the U.S. Navy and at least 29 other navies had used a total of more than one thousand LM2500/LM2500+ gas turbines to power warships. Other uses include hydrofoils, hovercraft and fast ferries. In 2012, GE developed an FPSO version to serve the oil and gas industry's demand for a lighter, more compact version to generate electricity and drive compressors to send natural gas through pipelines. Kwinana Power Station
Kwinana Power Station (KPS) was Synergy's second-largest power station, located in Naval Base, Western Australia within the City of Kwinana. At its peak, power was produced from six turbines driven by steam from boilers fired by coal, natural gas or fuel oil, and one gas turbine. The steam turbines closed in 2015; however, two gas turbines continue to operate on the site. This is not to be confused with Cockburn Power Station to its immediate south. KPS was originally built in 1970 as an oil-fired power station, however it was later converted to coal due to the rising price of oil caused by the 1973 oil crisis. The Stratford Power Station is a 577 MW power station located east of Stratford, in Taranaki, New Zealand. The original power station on the site was a 200 MW gas turbine power plant that opened in 1976 and closed in 2001. The current power station comprises a 377 MW combined cycle unit that opened in 1998 and two open cycle gas turbine units for peaking power that opened in 2011. Firebaugh is a city in Fresno County, California, United States, on the west side of the San Joaquin River 38 miles (61 km) west of Fresno.
