Genaro García Luna
Genaro García Luna (born 10 July 1968) is a Mexican former government official and convicted drug trafficker. From 2006 to 2012, he served as Secretary of Public Security during the administration of Felipe Calderón. He was later found to have used his high-ranking role to favor the Sinaloa Cartel to engage in drug trafficking activities during the Mexican drug war. In the 2018 trial of the drug lord Joaquín "El Chapo" Guzmán Loera, his partner Jesus Zambada García testified to bribing García Luna with suitcases stuffed with $3 million in cash on two occasions. On 9 December 2019, García Luna was arrested in the United States on charges of taking bribes from the Sinaloa Cartel. On 21 February 2023, García Luna was found guilty of all five counts by a federal jury in Brooklyn, New York, making the once-highest-ranking law enforcement official in Mexico now a convicted felon. Joaquín "El Chapo" Guzmán
Joaquín Archivaldo Guzmán Loera (; born 4 April 1957), commonly known as "El Chapo", is a Mexican former drug lord and a former leader within the Sinaloa Cartel. Guzmán is believed to be responsible for the deaths of over 34,000 people, and was considered to be the most powerful drug trafficker in the world until he was extradited to the United States and sentenced to life in prison. Guzmán was born in Sinaloa and raised in a poor farming family. Federal Judicial Police
The Federal Judicial Police (, the PJF) was the federal police force of Mexico until it was shut down in 2002 due to its own rampant corruption and criminal activity. The jurisdiction of the Federal Judicial Police encompassed the entire nation and was divided into thirteen zones with fifty-two smaller detachment headquarters. Under the coordination of the local federal prosecutor, each zone was headed by a Second Commandant of the Federal Judicial Police, who in turn directs the group chiefs in the outlying detachments.
