Gefle Open
The Gevalia Open was a golf tournament held at Gävle Golf Club in Gävle, Sweden from 1978. It featured on the Swedish Golf Tour from its inception in 1984 and on the Challenge Tour in 1990 and 1991. It was re-named the Gefle Open in 1991, using the archaic spelling of Gävle. In 2011 European Tour winner Peter Hedblom, the most successful player to represent Gävle Golf Club, hosted the tournament. Gävle
Gävle () is a city in Sweden, the seat of Gävle Municipality and the capital of Gävleborg County. It had 77,586 inhabitants in 2020, which makes it the 13th most populated city in Sweden. It is the oldest city in the historical Norrland (Sweden's Northern Lands), having received its charter in 1446 from Christopher of Bavaria. However, Gävle is far nearer to the greater Stockholm region than it is to most other major settlements in Norrland and has a much milder climate than associated with said region. In recent years, the city has received much international attention due to its large Yule Goat figure made of straw - the Gävle Goat. The goat is erected in December each year and is often subsequently vandalized, usually by being set on fire. Steven Jeppesen
Steven Svejstrup Jeppesen (born 22 April 1984) is a Swedish professional golfer. Career Jeppesen played for the Swedish National team as an amateur and won on his first outing for the team, the Junior Open Championship at Crail, Scotland, in 2000. He also won the 2001 European Boys' Team Championship, with a team that included Gustav Adell, Robert Svensson, Johannes Andersson, Jonas Blixt and Niklas Lemke. Jeppesen finished 10th and best Swedish player at the 2003 individual European Amateur Championship at Nairn Golf Club, Scotland. Jeppesen turned professional in 2003 at the age of nineteen, and immediately qualified for the European Tour for the 2004 season via qualifying school. The 1996 Swedish Golf Tour, titled as the 1996 Telia Infomedia Golf Tour for sponsorship reasons, was the 13th season of the Swedish Golf Tour, the main professional golf tour in Sweden since it was formed in 1984, with most tournaments being incorporated into the Challenge Tour between 1989 and 1998. Per Tomas Cristian Härdin (born 5 October 1967) is a Swedish professional golfer, who was the first Scandinavian player to win The Amateur Championship and to play in the Masters Tournament. Härdin's first name is officially spelled Cristian, but his name is in most tournament result reports spelled in the more common way Christian Härdin. Early years Härdin grew up in Gävle, in the Gästrikland province, part of Norrland, the northern half av Sweden.
