Gefle Ladies Open
The Gefle Ladies Open was a women's professional golf tournament on the Swedish Golf Tour played from 1999 until 2007. It was always held at the Gävle Golf Club in Gävle, Sweden. Gävle Golf Club had hosted the Gefle Open on the men's Swedish Golf Tour since the tour's inception in 1984, but switched to hosting the women's event starting in 1999. In 2005 the club hosted the Gävle Energi Open on the men's tour instead. Several installments of the tournament doubled as the women's Swedish International. Gävle
Gävle () is a city in Sweden, the seat of Gävle Municipality and the capital of Gävleborg County. It had 77,586 inhabitants in 2020, which makes it the 13th most populated city in Sweden. It is the oldest city in the historical Norrland (Sweden's Northern Lands), having received its charter in 1446 from Christopher of Bavaria. However, Gävle is far nearer to the greater Stockholm region than it is to most other major settlements in Norrland and has a much milder climate than associated with said region. In recent years, the city has received much international attention due to its large Yule Goat figure made of straw - the Gävle Goat. Marlene Hedblom (born 13 November 1972 in Gävle) is a retired Swedish professional golfer. Early years Despite coming from a golfing family, she did not start playing until the age of 12 at Gävle Golf Club in Sweden. Her father Olle was en elite player, who later became a club professional and her two years elder brother Peter turned tournament professional 19 years old.
