Gbinti
Gbinti is a rural town in Dibia chiefdombr> Port Loko District in the Northern Province of Sierra Leone. The town is the chieftaincy seat of Dibia chiefdom. Gbinti lies about 20 miles from the district capital Port Loko and approximately 52 miles east of Freetown. The inhabitant of Gbinti are largely from the Temne ethnic group and many of the Temne people of Gbinti are partially of Fula descent, who had settled in the town as settlers over a hundred and fifty years ago. The Temne language is widely spoken in the town along with the Krio language. Abass Chernor Bundu (born 1948 in Gbinti, Port Loko District) is a Sierra Leonean politician, diplomat, and the current Speaker of the Parliament of Sierra Leone, Sierra Leone House of Parliament, in office since April 25, 201. Ibrahim Rassin Bundu is a Sierra Leonean politician and the current majority leader of the Sierra Leone Parliament. Bundu was previously the minority whip and deputy majority leader of parliament. He is a prominent and senior member of the All People's Congress (APC) party. Amadu Wurie
Amadu Wurie (August 27 1898 – 13 June 1977) was an early Sierra Leonean educationist and politician. Biography Wurie was born in Gbinti, Port Loko District, in the Northern Province of British Sierra Leone, the son of a Fula paramount chief. He was educated at the Bo School in Bo, one of the first set of pupils (Admission Number 55) when the school opened in 1906. In 1916, he was in the first class of Sierra Leoneans that passed the British civil service exam and was appointed the assistant headmaster of the Bo School that year. By 1935, Wurie rose to the position of Senior assistant headmaster which allowed him to be the first African to serve even temporarily as the Headmaster. From 1935 to 1955, Wurie served in various locations across the colony, primarily as headmaster and inspector of schools. Port Loko District
Port Loko District is a Districts of Sierra Leone, district in the North West Province, Sierra Leone, North West Province of Sierra Leone. It is the most populous District in the North and the second most populous District in Sierra Leone, after the Western Area Urban District. Temne Language
Temne (also ''Themne, Timne''; ) is a language of the Mel branch of the Niger–Congo language family. Temne speakers live mostly in the Northern Province and Western Area, Sierra Leone. Temne people can be found in a number of other West African countries as well, including Guinea and The Gambia. Rashin Wurie (born 27 December 1972 in Freetown, Sierra Leone) is a former Sierra Leonean international footballer. Career Wurie spent most of his professional career in Belgium, where he played for K. Boom F.C. in the Belgian First Division and Belgian Second Division from 1990 until 1993, as well as K. Sierra Leonean Creole or Krio is an English-based creole language that is lingua franca and de facto national language spoken throughout the West African nation of Sierra Leone.
