Gaza Daily is an emergency radio service launched by BBC News Arabic in response to the ongoing conflict in the Gaza Strip during the Israel–Hamas War to "provide listeners in Gaza with the latest information and developments as well as safety advice on where to access shelter, food and water supplies". Communication infrastructure disruptions caused by air strikes have left civilians without reliable access to essential information. Liliane Landor (born 1956) is a Lebanese-born British journalist and broadcasting executive who works (as of 2021) as the Director of the BBC World Service. . AM broadcasting is radio broadcasting using amplitude modulation (AM) transmissions. It was the first method developed for making audio radio transmissions, and is still used worldwide, primarily for medium wave (also known as "AM band") transmissions, but also on the longwave and shortwave radio bands. The earliest experimental AM transmissions began in the early 1900s. However, widespread AM broadcasting was not established until the 1920s, following the development of vacuum tube receivers and transmitters.
