Gaumee Film Awards
The Gaumee Film Awards aka Dhivehi Film Awards are presented by National Centre for the Arts to honour both artistic and technical excellence of professionals in the Maldivian film industry. The Gaumee Film Award ceremony is the oldest film events in Maldives. The ceremony had been sponsored by various private organisations in the past as well as in present provisions. A live ceremony was broadcast to television audiences. History A meeting was arranged at MCM on 30 October 1993, once the government decides to hold a Film Festival to honor the film industry. The awards were first introduced in 1994. Out of the twenty two people invited from the fraternity, only ten people showed up for the meeting. ''Zalzalaa En'buri Aun'' is a 2010 horror film written, produced and directed by Ahmed Nimal. Produced under Nims Films, the film stars Yoosuf Shafeeu, Sheela Najeeb and Mohamed Manik in pivotal roles. The film was released on 26 April 2010. ''24 Gadi Iru'' (lit: ''24 hours'') is a 2014 Maldivian suspense thriller film directed by Yoosuf Shafeeu and Mohamed Rasheed. Mariyam Unoosha (born 6 October 1985), known mononymously as Unoosha is a Maldivian female singer and songwriter. She is from a prominent Maldivian singing family. Her parents were in the 90s famous band " Olympians". She has won many awards and has performed in various high caliber shows in Maldives and abroad. Life and career Early life Unoosha was born on 6 October 1985 in Malé and graduated from Aminiyya School. She started singing at a very young age. Her parents (Shafeega and Mr. Naseer) are music legends in Maldives. She won the 1st place of "The inter School Music Competition" in a row and became the first ever female vocalist to win the competition 3 times. After a year since she finished her O’levels, she took up an offer from a local Music band called ''Amazon Jade'' and worked with the band for 4 years. Rafiyath Rameeza
Rafiyath Rameeza (23 March 1976) is a Maldivian singer. Early life Rafiyath Rameeza was born and raised in the "Rameez family" where several artists including Ali Rameez and Ibrahim Rameez were brought up and "ruled" the music industry. At the age of 12, while studying at Aminiya School, she competed in the Television Maldives Interschool Singing Competition and continued to participate in the same competition for more years. In 1993, at the age of seventeen, while studying at Malé English School, Rameeza performed the song "Kaakuhey Mithaahuree" in the competition which fetched the award for best performer from her age category and was ranked in the second place of the competition. The following year, she performed the song "Heylaa Hure Ey" which again resulted in her winning the first place in the age category and second place in overall from the competition.
