Gatundu
Gatundu is a small town in Kiambu County of Kenya. It is known for the first Kenyan president Jomo Kenyatta who lived about three kilometres away from the town, as well as his son, Uhuru Kenyatta, now the 4th President of Kenya and former Member of Parliament representing Gatundu South Constituency. The town is located on a hill surrounded by many farms and residences. Demographics Gatundu has an approximate population of 20,000 people who reside and work within and near the town. Location Gatundu town is located west of Thika about 29 Kilometers, road distance through Mang'u and north of Kiambu about 44 Kilometers, road distance through Ruiru. Gatundu South Constituency
Gatundu South is an electoral constituency in Kiambu County, Kenya and the seat of the District Officer in Gatundu Town. It is one of twelve constituencies in Kiambu County. The constituency has four wards, Kiamwangi, Kiganjo, Ndarugo and Ng'enda all of them are within Kiambu County council. The constituency was established before the 1997 General Elections. Previously it was part of the larger Gatundu Constituency which was split into Gatundu South Constituency and Gatundu North Constituency it is ranked 182 out of 210 Constituencies in Kenya in size and 165 out of 210 in population size. Gatundu North Constituency
Gatundu North Constituency is an electoral constituency in Kenya. It is one of twelve constituencies in Kiambu County, one of four in the former Thika District. The constituency has four wards, all of them are within Thika County council. The constituency was established for the 1997 elections. Previously it was part of the larger Gatundu Constituency. Kamwangi
Kamwangi is a settlement Kiambu County, Kenya, in the former Central Province. Location It is a small town along Thika - Naivasha road. It's located west of Thika. There is however, a minor road connecting the town to Gatundu through Kang'oo. Economic activities The main economic activity practised in the area is trading. There is a very busy market conducted twice in a week;Tuesday and Friday. Buyers and sellers walk or travel long distance to Kamwangi on market days. Big shops in the town also attract many people from the nearby villages. The town lacks financial institutions apart from the TAI Sacco Society Ltdlocated at Thika road. Jomo Kenyatta
Jomo Kenyatta (22 August 1978) was a Kenyan anti-colonial activist and politician who governed Kenya as its Prime Minister from 1963 to 1964 and then as its first President from 1964 to his death in 1978. He was the country's first indigenous head of government and played a significant role in the transformation of Kenya from a colony of the British Empire into an independent republic. Thika Highway
Thika Thika (pronounced ˆÎ¸ika is an industrial town and a major commerce hub in Kiambu County, Kenya, lying on the A2 road 42 kilometres (26 mi) Northeast of Nairobi, near the confluence of the Thika and Chania Rivers. Although Thika town is administratively in Kiambu County, the greater area comprises residential areas such as Bendor estate, Maporomoko, Thika Greens, Thika Golden Pearl, Bahati Ridge, and Thika Sports Club, among others that are within Murang'a County. Kikuyu People
The Kikuyu (also ''Agĩkũyũ/Gĩkũyũ'') are a Bantu ethnic group native to Central Kenya. At a population of 8,148,668 as of 2019, they account for 17.13% of the total population of Kenya, making them Kenya's largest ethnic group.
