Garrett Muagututia
Garrett Muagututia (born February 26, 1988) is an American professional volleyball player. He played and studied for 4 years at the University of California, Los Angeles. He is a member of the US national team. Muagututia participated at the 2014 World Championship held in Poland. At the professional club level, he plays for the Indonesian team, Jakarta Bhayangkara Presisi. His father, Faauuga Muagututia is a former United States Navy SEAL, a competitor for American Samoa at the 1994 Winter Olympics in bobsleigh. 2014 FIVB Volleyball World League
The 2014 FIVB Volleyball World League was the 25th edition of the annual men's international volleyball tournament, played by 28 countries from 23 May to 20 July 2014. The Group 1 Final Round was held in Florence, Italy. Qualification *No qualification tournament. *All teams of the 2013 edition directly qualified. *10 teams were invited by the FIVB. Format *It will be the first time the World League will feature 28 teams, having had 18 teams in 2013 and 16 teams from 2001–03 and 2006–12. Greek Volleyball Cup
The Greek Volleyball Cup began with 1980–81 season. It is organized by Hellenic Volleyball Federation. The competition was not held sometimes in the past for financial reasons . Olympiacos won the first Cup in 1981 and is the most successful club, having won the title 16 times. PAOK are the current Cup holders. In season 2008–09, it was carried out the final four tournament, but the tournament wasn't carried out and the next years because of riots in the place of final four's tournament, between the fans of Olympiacos and Panathinaikos. American Samoa At The 1994 Winter Olympics
American Samoa sent a delegation to compete at the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer, Norway from 12–27 February 1994. This was the territory's first, and as of the conclusion of the 2018 Winter Olympics, only Winter Olympics they have competed in. The delegation consisted of two athletes, Faauuga Muagututia and Brad Kiltz, who competed in the two-man bobsleigh event where they finished 39th. Faauuga Tia Muagututia (born May 13, 1958) is a former United States Navy SEAL and Winter Olympic competitor for American Samoa in the bobsleigh. Personal life Muagututia was born on May 13, 1958 in Pago Pago, American Samoa. He moved to Los Angeles aged 13 and attended Carson High School in California. Muagututia and his wife Kathy have one daughter and three sons: Merideth; Grant; Garrett, a member of the United States men's national volleyball team; and Myles, who has played American football and volleyball for the Stanford Cardinal. 2014 FIVB Volleyball Men's World Championship
The 2014 FIVB Volleyball Men's World Championship was held in Poland from 30 August to 21 September 2014. The tournament featured 24 teams to determine the world champions in men's volleyball. In addition to the host nation Poland, 23 teams qualified for the tournament by means of continental and regional competitions. The matches took place in seven venues across seven Polish cities, with the final being held at Spodek, Katowice. The tournament was won by the host country Poland, who beat Brazil (who won the previous three titles) in the final. Poland became the third team in the history of the competition to be crowned as champions in their own country, joining the Soviet Union (1952 and 1962) and Czechoslovakia (1966). 563,263 fans watched the matches during the 18-day event, smashing the previous records in the competition. United States Men's National Volleyball Team
The United States men's national volleyball team represents the country in international competitions and friendly matches. The team is governed by USA Volleyball. The team has won five Olympic medals, including three gold. History As the birthplace of volleyball, the United States founded the first association to regulate the sport. The United States Volleyball Association was formed in 1927, and was the founding member of FIVB in 1947.
