Garners Beach Burial Ground
Garners Beach Burial Ground is a heritage-listed cemetery at Garners Beach Road, Garners Beach, Cassowary Coast Region, Queensland, Australia. It was built from 1935 to 1968. It is also known as Clump Point Private Cemetery, Garners Beach Cemetery, and Wilford Hill. It was added to the Queensland Heritage Register on 23 April 1999. History Garners Beach Burial Ground is associated with the settlement of the Muff Creek area, just north of Clump Point and Bingil Bay, by the Garner family, who held the land around Muff Creek from 1911 to the early 1970s. The first of the Garner family to be associated with the beach were Edward Thomas Garner, his wife Edith Fay Johnson, and their 3 children. Geography The ''Coral Sea'' forms the eastern boundary and part of the northern boundary. Murray River (Queensland)
The Murray River is a river in Far North Queensland. It extends for a length of and drops in height from its source in the mountains of Girringun National Park to its mouth on the Queensland coast. It is named after John Murray, who was an officer in the paramilitary Native Police force. British colonists initially named it the Macalister River in 1865, but its appellation was later changed to the Murray River. The Murray Falls is a popular tourist destination in the upper reaches of the river. Wilford Hill
Wilford Hill is the highest point in Nottinghamshire on the Trent's south bank, giving views of the Trent Valley as far as Newark-on-Trent. It is listed as having an elevation of 87m and a prominence of 49m. The area has historic significance due to its prominence and the presence of the Kings Road or old great road running cross its top, which was the main route from London and Leicester to the north of the country. By 1914 it was already thought to have been neglected for 150 years, so that "no cart could possibly cross it". The old road is known locally as "The Spinney". South Johnstone is a rural town and locality in the Cassowary Coast Region, Queensland, Australia. In the , South Johnstone had a population of 413 people. Howard Smith Limited was an Australian industrial company. Founded in 1854 as a shipping company, it later diversified into coal mining, steel production, stevedoring, travel, railway rolling stock building, sugar production and retail. Its divisions began to be sold off in the 1990s with the remainder taken over by Wesfarmers in August 2001. Shipping On 7 July 1854 Captain William Howard Smith arrived in Melbourne from England as skipper of the 177 ton steamer ''Express'' in which he held a 50% share along with the ship's engineer, SB Skinner.
