On 11 February 1977 the ''Aberdeen Press and Journal'' reported: Two Aberdeenshire stalwarts Jim Black and 3rd XV captain John Fraser are behind the move and to gauge likely interest they have organised a meeting in the Kintore Arms Hotel in Inverurie on Monday week at 8pm. Dr Black stated: "I have been approached by several incomers to the area who are interested in starting a club. With the example of Mackie Academy F.P. getting off the ground at Stonehaven, we are encouraged to think the same at Inverurie. We have been assured that there is space for a rugby pitch at the town's Pleasure Park and we are also pleased to note that rugby is now being offered to first year pupils at Inverurie Academy and it has now caught on." Inverurie
Inverurie (Scottish Gaelic: ''Inbhir Uraidh'' or ''Inbhir Uaraidh'', 'mouth of the River Ury') is a town in Aberdeenshire, Scotland at the confluence of the rivers Ury and Don, about north-west of Aberdeen. Geography Inverurie is in the valley of the River Don at the centre of Aberdeenshire and is known locally as the Heart of the Garioch. It sits between the River Don and the River Ury and is only from the imposing hill of Bennachie. The town centre is triangular and is dominated by Inverurie Town Hall built in 1863. In the middle of the 'square' (as it is known locally) is the Inverurie and District War Memorial, capped by a lone Gordon Highlander looking out over the town. The British Newspaper Archive web site provides access to searchable digitized archives of British and Irish newspapers. It was launched in November 2011. History The British Library Newspapers section was based in Colindale in north London, until 2013, and is now divided between the St Pancras and Boston Spa sites. The library has an almost complete collection of British and Irish newspapers since 1840. This is partly because of the legal deposit legislation of 1869, which required newspapers to supply a copy of each edition of a newspaper to the library. Mackie Academy RFC
Mackie Academy RFC is a rugby union club based in Stonehaven, Scotland. The Men's team currently plays in . History It was founded in 1976 as a former pupils club, though it is now an open club. It provides rugby for the Stonehaven, the Mearns and south Aberdeenshire area. There are two rugby pitches at the Redcloak site where they are based but the club were told to vacate one of their pitches and their lease was terminated for its use. The rugby club was unsuccessful in its bid to buy this second pitch. Mackie Academy RFC as of 2021 have 6 years of the lease left on the remaining Redcloak pitch. They have proposed buying the grounds off Forest Drive, at Mill O' Forest, to Stonehaven and District Community Council, and the club's bid is at public consultation. Stuart Corsar (born 28 March 1984 in Inverurie, Scotland) is a former rugby union player for Glasgow Warriors at the Loosehead Prop position. Corsar was a member of Glasgow Warriors Elite Development Players (Academy squad) was promoted to a full-time professional contract in 2006. He then moved to England to play with the Rotherham Titans. From there he moved on to play for the Doncaster Knights. Corsar was capped by Scotland at various age grades and finally earned a Scotland 'A' cap. Glasgow Warriors are a professional rugby union side from Scotland. The team plays in the United Rugby Championship league and in the European Professional Club Rugby tournaments.
