Garba (dance)
Garba (Gujarati: ગરબા) is a form of Gujarati dance which originates from the state of Gujarat in India. The name is derived from the Sanskrit term ''Garbha'' . Many traditional garbas are performed around a centrally lit lamp or a picture or statue of the Goddess Shakti. Traditionally, it is performed during the nine-day Indian festival Navarātrī (Gujarati: નવરાત્રી, where નવ means 9, and રાત્રી means nights). Either the lamp (the ''Garba Deep'') or an image of the Goddess, Durga (also called ''Amba'') is placed in middle of concentric rings as an object of veneration. Etymology The word ''garba'' comes from the Sanskrit word for womb and so implies gestation or pregnancy — life. Traditionally, the dance is performed around a clay lantern with a light inside, called a ''Garbha Deep'' ("womb lamp"). This lantern represents life, and the fetus in the womb in particular. Mario Garba (born 13 February 1977 in Sisak) is a Croatian retired professional footballer who last played for Croatian club NK Lekenik. Club career Garba started with football in his native Sisak, with HNK Segesta before moving to the then-upward bound lower-tier side TŠK from the nearby village of Topolovac. Bhat () is a village in Daskroi Taluka in Ahmedabad district of Gujarat State, India. Yohannan Garba
Yohannan Garba ('the Leper'), originally metropolitan of Nisibis, was anti-patriarch of the Church of the East between 691 and 693. He opposed the claims of the legitimately-elected patriarch Hnanisho I (686–98), who had offended the caliph Abd al-Malik with a tactless remark about Islam. In 693 Yohannan was disgraced and thrown into prison, where he died shortly afterwards. Hnanisho's successor Sliba-zkha (714–28) removed Yohannan's name from the diptychs, and he is not included in the traditional list of patriarchs of the Church of the East.
