Soliman Gamil ( ar, سليمان جميل; December 24, 1924 in Alexandria, Egypt – June 13, 1994) was an Egyptian composer and '' qanun'' player. Sanaa Gamil ( ar, سناء جميل), born Thoraya Youssef Atallah ( ar, ثريا يوسف عطالله) (April 27, 1930 – December 22, 2002), was an Egyptian actress. Born to a Coptic Orthodox family in Minya Governorate, she moved to Cairo to pursue her acting career and changed her name to Sanaa Gamil. One of her most notable roles was ''Nefisah'' in front of Omar Sharif in the movie '' Bidaya wa nihaya'' (''A Beginning and an End'') directed by Salah Abouseif in 1960. The movie was based on a novel with the same name by the Nobel Prize winner Naguib Mahfouz. He was known for numerous villainous roles and his appearance in the English-language epic historical drama film ''Lawrence of Arabia''.
