Sanaa Gamil
Sanaa Gamil ( ar, سناء جميل), born Thoraya Youssef Atallah ( ar, ثريا يوسف عطالله) (April 27, 1930 – December 22, 2002), was an Egyptian actress. Born to a Coptic Orthodox family in Minya Governorate, she moved to Cairo to pursue her acting career and changed her name to Sanaa Gamil. One of her most notable roles was ''Nefisah'' in front of Omar Sharif in the movie '' Bidaya wa nihaya'' (''A Beginning and an End'') directed by Salah Abouseif in 1960. The movie was based on a novel with the same name by the Nobel Prize winner Naguib Mahfouz. Gamil Ratib
Gamil Ratib ( ar, جميل راتب; 18 August 1926 – 19 September 2018) was an Egyptian actor. He appeared in television and film productions and briefly in theater over a 65-year career. He was known for numerous villainous roles and his appearance in the English-language epic historical drama film ''Lawrence of Arabia''. Biography Born in 1926 in Cairo to an Egyptian family known of their love for arts, Ratib was sent to study arts in Paris. His love of performance came from French theatre, which he studied at the University of France, before making his film debut in 1945. He was a much-awarded actor in both his native Egypt and in France, having worked in both countries, including being given the Legion of Honour. In France, Ratib married a French woman and was given French citizenship. ''The Beginning and the End'' ( arz, بداية و نهاية) is a 1960 Egyptian film directed by Salah Abouseif and based on the 1950 novel by the same name. It was the first film adapted from a novel written by Naguib Mahfouz. ''The Beginning and the End'' is the 7th in the top 10 films of the list of the Top 100 Egyptian films of all time. At the 2nd Moscow International Film Festival in 1961, the film was nominated for the Grand Prix award. For her role as Nefisah, Sanaa Gamil won the award for Best Supporting Actress.
