Galileo (German TV Series)
''Galileo'' is a German television program series produced and broadcast on ProSieben television network. It is also sold to broadcasters in other countries (namely Russia). The first show was broadcast in 1998, and is now stored in the Arctic World Archive in Svalbard, Norway, after being transferred to special film created by Piql. Galileo has also a YouTube channel which has more than 3 million subscribers as of September 2020. Former national rugby player Aiman Abdallah is one of the presenters. ProSieben
ProSieben (, ''sieben'' is German for "seven"; often stylized as Pro7) is a German free-to-air television network owned by ProSiebenSat.1 Media. It was launched on 1 January 1989. It is Germany's second-largest privately owned television company. Although ProSieben produces some of its programming itself, it also airs many American imports. On 3 May 2012, the network launched a pay-TV channel called ProSieben Fun. A third channel called ProSieben Maxx started broadcasting on 3 September 2013. The three different feeds of the channel are: ProSieben (for Germany), ProSieben Austria (for Austria), and ProSieben Schweiz (for Switzerland and Liechtenstein). The main difference is that they have different advertisements and news for each target country. The channel uses an English slogan: "We love to entertain you." Aiman Abdallah
Aiman Abdallah (born 1965) is a German television presenter of Egyptian descent for the German television show ''Galileo'' at ProSieben and former rugby national player. Born in Bad Kreuznach, he played for the Berliner SV 1892. Life and career From 1984 to 1991, he studied computer science at the TU Berlin. Parallel from 1987 to 1993, he worked as a freelance employee at ZDF. From 1990 to 1993, he worked as a freelance editor for various production companies. Around the same time, he worked as a freelancer in the sports department of the television station RIAS-TV in Berlin. From 1993 to 1994, Abdallah worked as a sports editor for the international broadcaster Deutsche Welle and as a sports presenter for the radio station Kiss-FM in Berlin. Arctic World Archive
The Arctic World Archive (AWA) is a facility for data preservation, located in the Svalbard archipelago on the island of Spitsbergen, Norway, not far from the Svalbard Global Seed Vault. It contains data of historical and cultural interest from several countries, as well as all of American multinational company GitHub's open source code, in a deeply buried steel vault, with the data storage medium expected to last for 500 to 1,000 years. It is run as a profit-making business by private company Piql and the state-owned coal-mining company Store Norske Spitsbergen Kulkompani (SNSK). History Piql is a Norwegian data-storage company that specialises in long-term storage of digital media. Svalbard
Svalbard ( , ), also known as Spitsbergen, or Spitzbergen, is a Norwegian archipelago in the Arctic Ocean. North of mainland Europe, it is about midway between the northern coast of Norway and the North Pole. The islands of the group range from 74° to 81° north latitude, and from 10° to 35° east longitude. The largest island is Spitsbergen, followed by Nordaustlandet and . The largest settlement is Longyearbyen. The islands were first used as a base by the whalers who sailed far north in the 17th and 18th centuries, after which they were abandoned. Coal mining started at the beginning of the 20th century, and several permanent communities were established. The Svalbard Treaty of 1920 recognizes Norwegian sovereignty, and the 1925 Svalbard Act made Svalbard a full part of the Kingdom of Norway.
