Gaia Cauchi
Gaia Cauchi M.Q.R. (born 19 November 2002) is a Maltese singer. She represented Malta at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2013 and won the contest with her song " The Start". Life and career 2004–2012: Early career Gaia's first "international gig" came in 2011 when she appeared on the popular Italian TV show, ''Ti Lascio Una Canzone''. She took on Tina Turner's "Proud Mary" and left the audience shouting "bellissimo!" She won the prestigious Sanremo Junior Music Festival a year later in her category when she was just nine years old. The Midalja għall-Qadi tar-Repubblika (Medal for Service to the Republic) is a medal of the Malta, Republic of Malta. The medal is awarded by the President of Malta, with the written approval of the Prime Minister of Malta, for distinguished service to Malta. The award is presented to Maltese citizens and organizations, but may be awarded to foreigners on an honorary basis for service which merits recognition. Destiny Chukunyere M.Q.R. (born 29 August 2002) is a Maltese singer. She won the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2015, where she represented Malta with the song " Not My Soul". In 2017, she participated in the eleventh series of ''Britain's Got Talent'' and finished 6th in the second semi-final and thus was eliminated. She won the second season of the Maltese version of ''The X Factor'' and was chosen to represent Malta in the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 in Rotterdam with the song " All of My Love" however the contest was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Malta Song Festival
Although Malta is a small island in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea with a small population, it is nonetheless rich in its history and its culture. When in the 1950s, in nearby Italy the San Remo Festival, and later in Switzerland, the Eurovision Song Contest came into existence, Malta soon followed suit by organizing its own National Song Festival. Origins and other festivals in Malta The first Malta Song Festival was organized by the Maltese section of the Young Christian Workers movement in 1960. Out of 72 submissions, 20 were chosen for the two semi-finals. Eventually 10 made it for the final of Saturday 5 November 1960.
