Gaetano Batanyenda
Rev. Fr. Gaetano Batanyenda (born 30 June 1944 in Kanungu, Uganda) is a Ugandan religious leader and one of the longest serving church leaders in Kabale diocese. He is currently serving his 25th year at Kitanga Catholic Parish. Batanyenda is the head of Kigezi Inter Religious Council as well as the head of Clergy Kitanga Parish and the head of Clergy Kabale Diocese. Batanyenda is also active in politics, serving in the Parliament of Uganda, Constituent Assembly during 1994−95. In 2011, he published a letter urging president Yoweri Museveni to resign. Kanungu is a town in the Western Region of Uganda. It is the location of the district headquarters for Kanungu District. Parliament Of Uganda
The parliament of Uganda is the country's legislative body. Unicameral, the most significant of the Ugandan parliament's functions is to pass laws that will provide good governance in the country. The government ministers are bound to answer to the people's representatives on the floor of the house. Through the various parliamentary committees, parliament scrutinises government programmes, particularly as outlined in the ''State of the Nation'' address by the president. Constituent Assembly slections were held in Uganda on 28 March 1994 to elect 214 of the 284 members of an Assembly tasked with drawing up the country's new constitution. Although all candidates formally ran as independents, it was estimated that 146 of the 214 elected members were representatives of the National Resistance Movement, while the other 68 members viewed as being members of the opposition (the Conservative Party, Democratic Party, National Liberal Party and the Uganda People's Congress) formed the National Caucus for Democracy. A further 70 members were appointed, with each registered political party nominating two members and each of the 39 districts nominating a female representative. Yoweri Museveni
Yoweri Kaguta Museveni Tibuhaburwa (born 15 September 1944) is a Ugandan politician and retired senior military officer who has been the 9th and current President of Uganda since 26 January 1986. Museveni spearheaded rebellions with aid of then current military general Tito Okello and general Bale Travor that toppled Ugandan presidents Milton Obote and Idi Amin before he captured power in 1986. In the mid-to-late 1990s, Museveni was celebrated by the Western world as part of a new generation of African leaders.
