Gabriela Carrillo
Gabriela Carrillo is a Mexican architect and partner of the practice Taller Rocha + Carrillo , . Carrillo is also a founding member of the architectural design collective C733. She graduated from Faculty of National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). In 2012 she partnered with Mauricio Rocha and his firm Taller de Arquitectura Mauricio Rocha + Gabriela Carrillo. She has presented lectures and has led workshops at universities in Mexico, the United States, and South America. Her work has been published nationally and internationally. In 2017, Carrillo was named Architect of the Year by ''Architectural Review'' and the ''Architects' Journal'''s Women in Architecture Awards. Mauricio Rocha Iturbide is a Mexican architect. Biography Mauricio Rocha was born in Mexico City in 1965 and studied architecture at Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México in the Max Cetto workshop. He has taught architectural language and projects at the UNAM faculty, Anahuac University and Ibero University in México City, and has given lectures at prestigious Universities in the United States and Latin America. Besides architecture he has worked as an artist doing interventions in different buildings and exhibiting at important national and international places such as Artists Space in New York. Tapachula de Córdova y Ordóñez, simply known as Tapachula, is a city and municipality located in the far southeast of the state of Chiapas in Mexico, near the Guatemalan border and the Pacific Ocean. It is one of the most important cities of Chiapas economically as the capital of the agriculturally rich Soconusco region as well as port for trade between Mexico and Central America. Hurricane Stan was a relatively weak but deadly tropical cyclone that affected areas of Central America and Mexico in early October 2005. The eighteenth named storm and eleventh hurricane of the 2005 Atlantic hurricane season, Stan formed from a tropical wave on October 1 after it had moved into the western Caribbean. The depression slowly intensified, and reached tropical storm intensity the following day, before subsequently making its first landfall on the Yucatán Peninsula. While traversing the peninsula, the tropical storm weakened, but was able to re-intensify once it entered the Bay of Campeche.
