Gabriel Vargas Venegas
Gabriel Alejandro Vargas Venegas (born 8 December 1983), known as Gabriel Vargas, is a Chilean footballer, who currently plays as striker for Deportes Concepción in the Segunda División Profesional de Chile. Club career He began on the youth squad of Deportes Concepción and debuted in 2002. After he was released in 2005, he moved to Norway to work as a stevedor, at the same time he played for Norwegian Third Division club Andes IK. In 2006, he played for Puerto Montt. In 2007, Vargas played for Cobresal where he was one of the team's leading goal scorers for the year. In the 2007 Clausura tournament, Vargas scored 11 goals. In 2008, he moved to Universidad de Concepción. Then he moved to Universidad de Chile, to play 2010 Apertura and 2010 Copa Libertadores. Personal life He is nicknamed ''El Arcángel del Gol'' (The Goal Archangel) due to the fact that his name is Gabriel just like the biblical character. Curicó Unido is a football club based in Curicó, Maule Region, Chile. They currently play in the Primera División, the first level of the Chilean football system. They are currently managed by Damián Muñoz. History Curicó Unido was founded on 26 February 1973, with ''Edmundo Rojas'' as the first President of the club. They became the fourth football team from the Curicó city to play at the professional level, after Alianza de Curicó, Luis Cruz Martínez and Bádminton de Curicó. 2011 Copa Sudamericana
The 2011 Copa Sudamericana de Clubes (officially the 2011 Copa Bridgestone Sudamericana de Clubes for sponsorship reasons) was the 10th edition of the Copa Sudamericana, South America's secondary international club football tournament organized by CONMEBOL. The winner, Universidad de Chile, qualified for the 2012 Copa Libertadores, the 2012 Recopa Sudamericana, and the 2012 Suruga Bank Championship. The CONMEBOL Sudamericana, named as ''Copa Sudamericana'' (; pt, Copa Sul-Americana ), is an annual international club football competition organized by CONMEBOL since 2002. It is the second-most prestigious club competition in South American football. CONCACAF clubs were invited between 2004 and 2008. The CONMEBOL Sudamericana began in 2002, replacing the separate competitions Copa Merconorte and Copa Mercosur (that had replaced Copa CONMEBOL) by a single competition. Since its introduction, the competition has been a pure elimination tournament with the number of rounds and teams varying from year to year.
