Gabalfa
Gabalfa (, ) is a district and community in the north of the city of Cardiff, capital of Wales. It is characterised by a four-lane fly over road at the Gabalfa Interchange, where the A48 road meets the A470 road (North Road) which leads from Cardiff to northern Wales, and the A469 road ( Caerphilly Road). The name is derived from the Welsh 'Ceubalfa', which is literally translated as 'place of the boat'. It was formerly the site of a ferry crossing across the River Taff, upon which a school is now built. The area was first heavily developed in the 1880s, with most of the characteristic terraced housing originating from the next 30 years of construction. The area around St. Joseph's Church near to Companies House is known as 'the Colonies' due to the number of street names after former British colonies, including Australia Road, Newfoundland Road and many more. Llandaff North
Llandaff North ( cy, Ystum Taf), is a district, community and coterminous electoral ward in the north of Cardiff, the capital city of Wales. Description It is located in the north of Cardiff and can be considered a two-part ward, each containing about half the population; a northern section of mainly middle class housing, and a southern section commonly known as the Gabalfa housing estate which consists of public sector and former public sector housing stock. When the Community Charge (or Poll Tax) was introduced in 1990 the Gabalfa housing estate and also parts of the Mynachdy housing estate were placed into the new Llandaff North Electoral Ward, and the boundaries of the Gabalfa Electoral Ward were moved and redrawn to create a now separate ward to the south east of the new Llandaff North ward. Heath, Cardiff
Heath ( cy, Y Mynydd Bychan) is a district, community and coterminous electoral ward in the north of Cardiff, capital of Wales. It is a predominantly affluent area with property prices being the third highest in the city. The area is known for its traditional 1930s detached and semi-detached properties with large south facing gardens. Roads are tree lined and large greeneries with the notable attraction of Heath Park and the joining of the University Hospital of Wales. The population of the ward and community taken at the 2011 census was 12,629. Cardiff North (UK Parliament Constituency)
Cardiff North () is a constituency represented in the House of Commons of the UK Parliament since 2017 by Anna McMorrin of the Labour Party. The seat has been relative to others a marginal seat since 2001 as well as a swing seat as its winner's majority has not exceeded 8% of the vote since the 14.3% majority won in that year. The seat has changed political allegiance twice since that year. All Nations Centre
The All Nations Centre is a conference centre and events venue in the Gabalfa district of Cardiff, Wales. The centre is associated with and located in the same building as the All Nations Church which was established at the site in 1991. It frequently hosts events for public sector bodies and political groups. History In 1991, the All Nations Church purchased the land where the centre is located, on Eastern Avenue (part of the main A48 road), opposite the University Hospital of Wales. The All Nations Centre was built to host church services and gatherings. The All Nations church is a member of Ministries Without Borders, a grouping of evangelical churches. Birchgrove, Cardiff
Birchgrove ( cy, Llwynfedw) is a district of the city of Cardiff stretching between Llanishen and the Gabalfa interchange, along the A469 Caerphilly road. It centres on a crossroads dominated by the Birchgrove pub which also lies between Heath and Whitchurch. Heath Park and University Hospital of Wales adjoin. It differentiates from the ward of Heath in which it lies, by being a busy, hustle and bustle type of area, with rows of small shops and eateries and for the most part being dominated by Terraced housing. A470 Road
The A470 (also named the Cardiff to Glan Conwy Trunk Road) is a trunk road in Wales. It is the country's longest road at and links the capital Cardiff on the south coast to Llandudno on the north coast. While previously one had to navigate the narrow roads of Llanidloes and Dolgellau, both these market towns are now bypassed due to extensive road modernisation. The from Cardiff Bay to Merthyr Tydfil are mainly dual carriageway, but most of the route from north of Merthyr to Llandudno is single carriageway. Julie Morgan
Julie Morgan (née Edwards; 2 November 1944) is a Welsh Labour Party politician, who has been a Member of the Senedd for Cardiff North seat in the Senedd since the 2011 election. She was previously Member of Parliament (MP) for Cardiff North from 1997 until 2010. She was married to former First Minister of Wales Rhodri Morgan until his death in 2017. Anna Rhiannon McMorrin (born 24 September 1971) is a Welsh Labour Party politician serving as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Cardiff North since 2017. She has served as the Shadow Minister for Victims and Youth Justice since 2021, and was a Shadow Minister for International Development from 2020 to 2021.
