''Global Underground 015: Darren Emerson, Uruguay'' is a DJ mix album in the Global Underground series, compiled and mixed by Darren Emerson. The mix is a retrospective look at a set at the La Morocha club in Punta del Este, Uruguay. A popular techno and deep house DJ for many years in his own right, Darren Emerson's global profile had gone stellar with the huge success of Underworld (band), Underworld, particularly following their chart-bothering re-release of Born Slippy. While making this mix out in Uruguay, on an afternoon stroll along the beach, Darren dropped the bombshell to GU's Andy that he was thinking of leaving the band. Andy tried to persuade him otherwise - at least until the album was out - but his mind was made up and the story was soon to break in the dance media anyway. Darren Paul Emerson (born 30 April 1971) is an English musician, DJ and producer best known as a former member of the British electronic music musical ensemble, group Underworld (band), Underworld. Career Early life Emerson began mixing Hip hop music, hip hop records at the age of 14, and by 16 was DJing regularly at local venues. Paul Rutherford (born 8 December 1959) is an English singer, musician and dancer. He is best known as the dancer, keyboardist, and backing vocalist of the synth-pop band Frankie Goes to Hollywood. Early life Rutherford was born on 8 December 1959 in Liverpool, but moved to the Cantril Farm district as a child during the 1960s. He attended St Dominic's Roman Catholic school in Huyton along with his twin sister. The Orb
The Orb are an English electronic music group founded in 1988 by Alex Paterson and Jimmy Cauty. "Born Slippy .NUXX" is a song by British electronic music group Underworld. It was first released as the B-side to "Born Slippy", in May 1995. The fragmented lyrics, by vocalist Karl Hyde, describe the perspective of an alcoholic. After it was used in the 1996 film '' Trainspotting'', "Born Slippy .NUXX" was issued as a single on 1 July 1996 and reached number two on the UK Singles Chart. It has been named one of the best tracks of the 1990s by numerous publications. Writing Vocalist Karl Hyde wrote the lyrics for "Born Slippy .NUXX" after a night drinking in Soho, London, hoping to capture the way a drunk "sees the world in fragments".
