GERB-SDS
The GERB-SDS ( bg, ГЕРБ-СДС) is the Bulgarian two-party political coalition headed by Boyko Borisov. History A coalition between the two parties was formed ahead of the 2019 European Parliament election in Bulgaria,. On 28 March 2019, an agreement between the two parties was officially signed. In the election, the coalition won first place and received 6 EP seats: 5 went to GERB, 1 to SDS. Party cooperation continued ahead of the April 2021 parliamentary election. The coalition has also signed the political partnership agreements with George's Day Movement, United Agrarians, the Movement for the Unity of the People and the Union of Repressed by Communism "Pamet" The coalition lists were registered in the electoral districts of the country on 1 March 2021. In the election, the coalition won 75 seats out of 240. The George's Day Movement movement entered into a coalition ahead of the snap July 2021 parliamentary election. 2021 Bulgarian General Election
General elections were held in Bulgaria on 14 November 2021 to elect both the President and the National Assembly. They were the country's third parliamentary elections in 2021, with no party able to form a government after the elections in April and July. A second round of the presidential elections were held on 21 November 2021 as no candidate was able to receive a majority of the vote in the first round. National Assembly (Bulgaria)
The National Assembly ( bg, Народно събрание, Narodno sabranie) is the unicameral parliament and legislative body of the Republic of Bulgaria. The National Assembly was established in 1879 with the Tarnovo Constitution. April 2021 Bulgarian Parliamentary Election
Parliamentary elections were held in Bulgaria on 4 April 2021 at the end of the term of National Assembly members elected in 2017. Parties in the governing coalition led by Boyko Borisov lost seats and no party leader was able to form a coalition government within the time limit. This triggered the July 2021 Bulgarian parliamentary election. Electoral system The 240 members of the National Assembly are elected by open list proportional representation from 31 multi-member constituencies ranging in size from 4 to 16 seats. George's Day Movement
The George's Day Movement () is a nationalist political party in Bulgaria. The party was founded in December 1996 by members of the political satire television programme ''Canaletto''. Members of the show, which succeeded ''Ku-Ku'' in the mid-1990s, participated in the 1996–1997 Bulgarian protests, and had previously tried to create a party named the Ku-Ku People’s Movement in 1994, but the registration was denied by the Supreme Court of Cassation of Bulgaria, with tacit support from the two major political parties at the time, the Union of Democratic Forces and the Bulgarian Socialist Party. GERB ( bg, ГЕРБ, translation=coat of arms, acronym for Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria) is a conservative, populist political party which was the ruling party of Bulgaria between 2009 and 2021. History GERB is headed by former Prime Minister of Bulgaria Boyko Borisov, the former mayor of Sofia, former member of the National Movement Simeon II and former personal guard of Todor Zhivkov in the 1990s. Vezhdi Rashidov
Vezhdi Letif Rashidov ( bg, Вежди Летиф Рашидов, tr, Vecdi Latif Raşidoğlu; born 14 December 1951) is a Bulgarian duffer sculptor, GERB politician and was a Minister of Culture of Bulgaria (2009–2013; 2014–2017) who is the Speaker of the 48th National Assembly from 2022. Rashidov was born in Dimitrovgrad to ethnic Turkish parents; however, he moved to Haskovo with his parents at age two. His mother Kadrie Lyatifova, a singer of Bulgarian and Turkish folk songs, died in a car crash when he was in primary school. His father Lyatif Rashidov was a miner in Madan and so was his brother Ruzhdi who died at 36 of cancer. Until seventh grade, Rashidov lived and studied at an orphanage in Studen Kladenets near Kardzhali. Rashidov then studied mining electrics and mechanics in Madan.
