2021 Bulgarian General Election
General elections were held in Bulgaria on 14 November 2021 to elect both the President and the National Assembly. They were the country's third parliamentary elections in 2021, with no party able to form a government after the elections in April and July. A second round of the presidential elections were held on 21 November 2021 as no candidate was able to receive a majority of the vote in the first round. We Continue the Change won the most seats, although it was not a majority. Shortly after the election, they announced that coalition talks were going to be held. Incumbent president Rumen Radev gathered 66.72% of the vote, defeating university professor Anastas Gerdzhikov in a runoff. Rumen Radev
Rumen Georgiev Radev ( bg, Румен Георгиев Радев ; born 18 June 1963) is a Bulgarian politician and former major general who is the current president of Bulgaria since 22 January 2017. Radev previously served as higher commander of the Bulgarian Air Force. He won the 2016 presidential election, as an independent candidate supported by the Bulgarian Socialist Party, defeating GERB candidate Tsetska Tsacheva in the second round. He won a second consecutive term in the 2021 election, with 66% of the vote in the second round. Biography Radev was born on 18 June 1963 in Dimitrovgrad, Bulgaria. Asen Vaskov Vasilev ( bg, Асен Васков Василев; born 9 September 1977) is a Bulgarian politician, economist, and entrepreneur who is the current Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance since 13 December 2021. He is the co-leader of We Continue the Change, a political movement he co-founded with Kiril Petkov. Childhood and education Vasilev was born on September 9, 1977, in Haskovo, Bulgaria. Kostadin Kostadinov (politician)
Kostadin Todorov Kostadinov (; born 1 April 1979), is a Bulgarian politician. He is the chairman of the ultranationalist Revival party (, ''Vazrazhdane''). Kostadinov is known for his anti-NATO stances, as well as for his anti-Roma and anti-migrant views anаnti-Macedonian views. Biography Throughout the years Kostadin has been engaged with the historical Bulgarian communities in Moldova, Ukraine, Greece, Romania, Serbia, North Macedonia, Albania, and others, and is the author of several books and documentaries about them. He completed his master's degree in Balkan studies in 2002 and his master's in Law in 2011 at Veliko Tarnovo University. Hristo Lyubomirov Ivanov ( bg, Христо Любомиров Иванов; born 13 September 1974) is a Bulgarian politician and lawyer. He served as Minister of Justice in the Second Borisov Government, Second Borisov Cabinet before resigning on 9 December 2015.
