G. Raymond Nye
G. Raymond Nye (April 13, 1889 – July 23, 1965) was an American film actor whose career began in silent era and lasted until the 1950s. He appeared in more than 110 films between 1912 and 1952. Biography Nye was born in Tamaqua, Pennsylvania. He attended the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. He was noted for his striking appearance which consisted of dark brown hair and dark brown eyes. After many years of stage acting, he settled in Los Angeles where he lived with his father, U.S. Grant Nye, in the Sunset Junction section of the Silver Lake neighborhood of town according to the 1920 census reports. On October 3, 1929, at age 40, Nye walked into his apartment to find his father had committed suicide by shooting himself in the head. He also found an apology letter written by his father explaining that he was sorry for taking his own life and he couldn't "bear this physical condition." ''Drag Harlan'' is a 1920 American silent Western film produced and released by the Fox Film Corporation and directed by J. Gordon Edwards. The film is based on an original story for the screen and stars William Farnum along with Jackie Saunders as leading lady. This film survives in a highly contrasted but complete print at the Library of Congress. It was available on VHS from Grapevine video briefly in the 1990s. Plot As described in a film magazine, Drag Harlan (Farnum) comes upon Lane Morgan (Mayall) dying as a result of an attack by Deveny's gang, who are after his gold mine. After Drag promises to protect Lane's daughter, Lane dies. Appearing on the Morgan ranch, Drag is challenged by John Haydon (Millett). After identification of some watch chain found in the dead man's hand, John is proven to be the murderer. Plot As described in a film magazine review, after the United States declares war on Germany in 1917, American citizens within Germany like Marie Lohr (Bara), who was visiting her uncle Professor Lohr (Elkas) in Strassburg, hastily attempt to obtain passports and leave the county.
