Førde Fjord
Førde Fjord ( no, Førdefjorden) is a fjord in Vestland county, Norway. It is the longest of all the fjords in the Districts of Norway, traditional district of Sunnfjord. Førdefjorden passes through the municipalities of Sunnfjord (municipality), Sunnfjord, Askvoll, and Kinn. The fjord begins at the town of Førde (town), Førde, at the estuary of the river Jølstra, which comes from the lake Jølstravatn. The island of Svanøya lies just outside the mouth of Førdefjorden. There are roads along the shoreline on both the north and south sides of the fjord, and the European route E39 highway runs past the town of Førde, near Førdefjorden. Development of mining industry :no:Nordic Mining, Nordic Mining have applied to deposit 6m tonnes of tailings a year for 50 years into the Fjord, prompting much opposition. Sunnfjord
Sunnfjord ( en, the southern fjord - in contrast to Nordfjord) is a Districts of Norway, traditional district in Western Norway located in Vestland counties of Norway, county. It includes the List of municipalities of Norway, municipalities of Askvoll, Fjaler, the southernmost parts of Kinn, Sunnfjord (municipality), Sunnfjord, and the southernmost parts of Bremanger. It covers an area of about and has a population (2016) of 43,324–about 8% of the population of Vestland county. Jølstravatn
Jølstravatnet or Jølstravatn is a lake in Sunnfjord Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. The lake empties its water into the long Jølstra river which then flows into the Førdefjorden. The impressive eastern arm of Jølstravatn is called ''Kjøsnesfjorden'', although it is not a true fjord that is part of the sea. The villages of Skei, Helgheim, Ålhus, and Vassenden are located on the shores of the lake. The lake is located at an elevation of above sea level, and the deepest point in the lake is below the water level. The lake is about long and about wide. Jølstravatn is a very good fishing lake. Indrevevring (also known as Vevring) is a village in Sunnfjord Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. The village is located on the northern shore of the Førdefjorden, about southeast of the village of Stavang (in Kinn Municipality) and about northwest of the village of Helle. Kvammen is a small village located on the south side of the Førdefjorden in Askvoll Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. It is located about north of the village of Dale and about northeast of the municipal center of Askvoll. The town of Førde and access to the European route E39 highway is east of Kvammen. The smaller village of Stongfjorden lies about to the west. Historically, this area of Askvoll was part of the old Vevring municipality. European route E39 is the designation of a north–south road in Norway and Denmark from Klett, just south of Trondheim, to Aalborg via Bergen, Stavanger and Kristiansand. In total, there are nine ferries, more than any other single road in Europe. In Trondheim, there are connections to European route E6, E6 and European route E14, E14. Svanøya
Svanøy (also called Svanøyna and Brulandet) is an island in the municipality of Kinn in Vestland county, Norway. The island is located in the Sunnfjord district of the county. The island lies just to the west of the mainland, in the mouth of the Førdefjorden. The Brufjorden runs along the north and east sides of the island and the Stavfjorden runs along the south side of the island. The island of Askrova lies about northwest of Svanøy. The island of Svanøy is heavily forested with many hills and small mountains. On Svanøy, there are plants and trees that usually are not found on the west coast of Norway, such as holly. Kinn
Kinn is a municipality in Vestland county, Norway. It was established on 1 January 2020. It is in the traditional districts of Nordfjord and Sunnfjord. The municipality is the only non-contiguous municipality in Norway since the municipality of Bremanger lies in between the north and south parts of Kinn. The administrative centres of the municipality is the two cities of Florø and Måløy. Some villages in the municipality include Rognaldsvåg, Stavang, Grov, Norddalsfjord, Nyttingnes, Steinhovden, Brandsøy, Deknepollen, Holvika, Kvalheim, Langeneset, Raudeberg, Refvika, Silda, Tennebø, Vedvika, and Vågsvåg.
