Fuzzy Duck (band)
Fuzzy Duck were an English progressive rock/ hard rock group from London, formed in 1970. Career The group's self-titled studio album ''Fuzzy Duck'' was released in 1971 on the MAM label. It featured bassist/vocalist Mick Hawksworth of Five Day Week Straw People, Killing Floor and Andromeda, as well as Crazy World of Arthur Brown keyboardist Roy Sharland and drummer Paul Francis of Tucky Buzzard (and later of Tranquility). The group disbanded soon after the release of their album, but enduring interest in the band led to reissues on CD by Akarma, Esoteric and Repertoire Records. Additionally, in 1971 vocalist Garth Watt-Roy (the elder brother of bass player Norman Watt-Roy) was asked by the band Steamhammer to provide vocals for the final album, ''Speech'' (released in 1972 and produced by former Yardbirds vocalist Keith Relf). Steamhammer (band)
Steamhammer is an English rock band from Worthing, England, that was formed in 1968 by vocalist Kieran White, guitarists Martin Quittenton and Martin Pugh, bassist Steve Davy, and drummer Michael Rushton. Career Steamhammer's first line-up acted as backing band for Freddie King on two of his tours of England in 1968–1969. Like many of their peers, the band experimented with instrumental passages, introspective lyrics, and ultrasonic guitar effects, along with folk, jazz and classical influences. After playing in English pubs in the late 1960s, Steamhammer's self-titled album '' Steamhammer'' (aka ''Reflection'') debuted on Columbia Records in 1968, featuring their single, "Junior's Wailing", and including covers of "You'll Never Know" by B. Bonnie Tyler
Gaynor Sullivan (née Hopkins; born 8 June 1951), known professionally as Bonnie Tyler, is a Welsh singer who is known for her distinctive husky voice. Tyler came to prominence with the release of her 1977 album '' The World Starts Tonight'' and its singles " Lost in France" and " More Than a Lover". Her 1978 single "It's a Heartache" reached number four on the UK Singles Chart, and number three on the US ''Billboard'' Hot 100. In the 1980s, Tyler ventured into rock music with songwriter and producer Jim Steinman. ''Goodbye to the Island'' is the fourth studio album by Welsh singer Bonnie Tyler. It became her final work with RCA Records after it was released in January 1981. Ronnie Scott and Steve Wolfe wrote the majority of songs for the album, and co-produced the record with Hugh Murphy. Music critics described the album as "more upbeat" than her previous album ''Diamond Cut'' (1979). ''Goodbye to the Island'' had the weakest sales of all albums Tyler released through RCA, only charting in Norway at number 38. Release and promotion ''Goodbye to the Island'' became Tyler’s final album under RCA Records. It was released in January 1981 on vinyl and cassette. In 1991, Castle Communications issued the album on CD with an alternate artwork. The album was again reissued in 2010 by 7T’s with two bonus tracks. Keith Relf
William Keith Relf (22 March 194312 May 1976) was an English musician, best known as the lead vocalist and harmonica player for rock band the Yardbirds. He then formed the band Renaissance with his sister Jane Relf, The Yardbirds ex-drummer Jim McCarty and ex-The Nashville Teens keyboardist John Hawken. Early life Relf was born in the Richmond Institution on 22 March 1943 to Mary Elsie Relf (née Vickers) and William Arthur Percy Relf. Keith had a sister Jane. His father was a builder, while his mother stayed at home. Musical career Relf started playing in bands around the summer of 1956 as a singer, guitarist, and harmonica player. Speech (album)
''Speech'' is the fourth and final album of the British band Steamhammer. In 1971, bassist Steve Davy left the band, and Louis Cennamo was recruited as his replacement - then, vocalist/guitarist Kieran White also left after a summer tour. Guitarist Martin Pugh, drummer Mick Bradley and Cennamo (with guest vocalist Garth Watt-Roy, of Fuzzy Duck) then went in the studio to record ''Speech'', which was released in 1972. It consisted of three lengthy (and mostly instrumental) songs in a heavier progressive-rock vein, that was somewhat different from their initial blues and folk/jazz-influenced albums. Bradley died from leukemia shortly before the album's mixing was completed (the album is dedicated to him on the inside album cover). The band continued with American singer/guitarist Bruce Payne and drummer John Lingwood, touring in Germany in support of the album, where they were more popular than back home in England.
