Fuxing District, Taoyuan
Fuxing District ( Atayal: Pyasan; ), formerly known as Fuxing Township or Fu-Hsing Township () is a mountain indigenous district in eastern Taoyuan City, Taiwan. The main population is the Atayal people of the Taiwanese aborigines. Lalashan (拉拉山) is a major feature of Fuxing, and the Shimen Reservoir, formed by Shimen Dam, is a popular nearby site. Fuxing District is, by area, the largest district in Taoyuan City. History Under Japanese rule, Fuxing District was classified as Aboriginal Land (蕃地). In August 2015, the Heliu community in the district were completely buried by landslide triggered by Typhoon Soudelor. District (Taiwan)
Districts are administrative subdivisions of the Taiwan, Republic of China (Taiwan)'s special municipality (Taiwan), special municipalities of the second level and provincial city (Taiwan), provincial cities of the third level formerly under its Provinces of China, provinces. There are two types of district in the administrative scheme. Ordinary districts are governed directly by the municipality/city government with district administrators appointed by the mayors to four-year terms. Typhoon Soudelor (2015)
Typhoon Soudelor, known in the Philippines as Typhoon Hanna, was the third most intense tropical cyclone worldwide in 2015 after Hurricane Patricia and Cyclone Pam as well as the strongest tropical cyclone of the 2015 Pacific typhoon season. Soudelor had severe impacts in the Northern Mariana Islands, Taiwan, and eastern China, resulting in 40 confirmed fatalities. Lesser effects were felt in Japan, South Korea and the Philippines. The thirteenth named storm of the annual typhoon season, Soudelor formed as a tropical depression near Pohnpei on July 29. The system strengthened slowly at first before entering a period of rapid intensification on August 2. Soudelor made landfall on Saipan later that day, causing extensive damage. Xiao Wulai Waterfall
The Xiao Wulai Waterfall or Little Wulai Waterfall () is a waterfall in Fuxing District, Taoyuan, Fuxing District, Taoyuan, Taiwan, Taoyuan, Taiwan. The height of the waterfall is around 55 meters. The waterfall is often confused with the Wulai Waterfall of New Taipei City. Skywalk Xiao Wulai Skywalk is suspended above the Xiao Wulai Waterfall. The walkway extended in the sky for 11 meters. Jiguopai Old Church
The Jiguopai Old Church () is a church in Sanmin Village, Fuxing District, Taoyuan City, Taiwan. History The church was built by Huang Rong-quan, a Presbyterian Church priest in Taiwan, in 1964 with a group of Atayal people. It underwent reconstruction after 2000 after its roof collapsed and damaged the building. In 2004, the building was designated as a historical spot by the Taoyuan County Government. In 2013, the church was selected as one of the ''100 Religious Attractions in Taiwan'' by the Ministry of the Interior. Dongyanshan Forest Recreation Area () is a forest located in Fuxing District, Taoyuan City, Taiwan. History The forest used to be the logging storage area for the Forestry Bureau. Baleng Tower
The Baleng Tower () is a tower in Fuxing District, Taoyuan, Fuxing District, Taoyuan, Taiwan, Taoyuan City, Taiwan. Taiwan Under Japanese Rule
The island of Taiwan, together with the Penghu Islands, became a dependency of Japan in 1895, when the Qing dynasty ceded Fujian-Taiwan Province in the Treaty of Shimonoseki after the Japanese victory in the First Sino-Japanese War. The short-lived Republic of Formosa resistance movement was suppressed by Japanese troops and quickly defeated in the Capitulation of Tainan, ending organized resistance to Japanese occupation and inaugurating five decades of Japanese rule over Taiwan.
