Frederick Augustus, Duke Of Württemberg-Neuenstadt
Frederick Augustus of Württemberg-Neuenstadt (12 March 1654, in Neuenstadt am Kocher – 6 August 1716, in Kraichtal, Gochsheim) was Duke of Württemberg and Duke of Württemberg-Neuenstadt. Life Frederick Augustus was the first-born child of Duke Frederick (Württemberg-Neuenstadt), Frederick of Neuenstadt who established the second branch line of the Duchy of Württemberg-Neuenstadt. His wife was Clara Augusta of Brunswick. The branch line of Württemberg-Neuenstadt held responsibility for the town of Neuenstadt am Kocher, Möckmühl and parts of Weinsberg. They bore the title of duke although they held no state sovereignty which remained within the main duchy of Württemberg. In 1674 the state became embroiled in the Franco-Dutch War. Kraichgau
The Kraichgau () is a hilly region in Baden-Württemberg, southwestern Germany. It is bordered by the Odenwald and the Neckar to the North, the Black Forest to the South, and the Upper Rhine Plain to the West. To the east, its boundary is considered to be the Stromberg and the Heuchelberg. The largest towns of the Kraichgau are Sinsheim, Eppingen, and Bretten. On the western end of the Kraichgau is the town of Bruchsal, the gateway to the Rhineland plains. Origins of the name The word "Kraich" apparently arose from the Celtic word "Creuch," meaning "mud" or "loam." The territory of a Gau (country subdivision) signifies an open area, free from woods, such as farmland or meadows. The area of Kraichgau was first mentioned in the Early Middle Ages, in the Lorsch codex, as "Creichgowe" in the year 769. In 773, it was called "Chrehgauui," in 778 "Craichgoia." Duchess Frederica of Württemberg (1699–1781), was a German abbess. She was the favorite of the queen of Denmark, Sophie Magdalene of Brandenburg-Kulmbach, and the Abbess of the Danish Protestant convent Vallø stift in 1738–1743. Life She was born to Frederick Augustus, Duke of Württemberg-Neuenstadt and Albertine Sophie Esther, Countess of Eberstein (1661-1728). She never married, and after the death of her father in 1716, she lived with her mother in Gochsheim Castle until her mother's death in 1728. She was, for a time, lady-in-waiting to Johanna Elisabeth of Baden-Durlach. Frederica was a favorite of the Danish queen, whose favoritism of Germans was disliked, and was awarded by her with her order and the lucrative post of abbess. Carl Rudolf (29 May 1667, in Neuenstadt am Kocher – 17 November 1742, in Neuenstadt am Kocher) was the last Duke of Württemberg-Neuenstadt, army commander in Danish service and List of Field Marshals of the Holy Roman Empire, Field Marshal of the Holy Roman Empire. Life Carl Rudolf was the youngest son of Frederick, Duke of Württemberg-Neuenstadt, Frederick, who had founded the Württemberg-Neuenstadt branch in 1649, and his wife Clara Augusta von Braunschweig. Shigellosis is an infection of the intestines caused by ''Shigella'' bacteria. Symptoms generally start one to two days after exposure and include diarrhea, fever, abdominal pain, and feeling the need to pass stools even when the bowels are empty. The diarrhea may be bloody. Symptoms typically last five to seven days and it may take several months before bowel habits return entirely to normal. Waldensians
The Waldensians (also known as Waldenses (), Vallenses, Valdesi or Vaudois) are adherents of a church tradition that began as an ascetic movement within Western Christianity before the Reformation. Originally known as the "Poor Men of Lyon" in the late twelfth century, the movement spread to the Cottian Alps in what are today France and Italy. The founding of the Waldensians is attributed to Peter Waldo, a wealthy merchant who gave away his property around 1173, preaching apostolic poverty as the way to perfection. The Peace of Ryswick, or Rijswijk, was a series of treaties signed in the Dutch city of Rijswijk between 20 September and 30 October 1697. They ended the 1688 to 1697 Nine Years' War between France and the Grand Alliance, which included England, Spain, Austria, and the Dutch Republic. One of a series of wars fought by Louis XIV of France between 1666 to 1714, neither side was able to make significant territorial gains.
