Life and career The eldest son of Frederick Blomfield Philbrick, Frederick Adolphus Philbrick was educated at the University of London (BA 1853). He entered the Middle Temple in 1858 and was called to the bar in 1860, joining the Home Circuit. He was appointed Recorder of Colchester in 1870, a Queen's Counsel in 1874, and was elected a bencher of the Middle Temple in 1876. He was appointed a County Court Judge in 1895. The Roll of Distinguished Philatelists (RDP) is a philatelic award of international scale, created by the Philatelic Congress of Great Britain in 1921. King's Counsel
In the United Kingdom and in some Commonwealth countries, a King's Counsel ( post-nominal initials KC) during the reign of a king, or Queen's Counsel (post-nominal initials QC) during the reign of a queen, is a lawyer (usually a barrister or advocate) who is typically a senior trial lawyer. Technically appointed by the monarch of the country to be one of 'His erMajesty's Counsel learned in the law', the position originated in England and Wales.
