Framed (Asleep At The Wheel Album)
''Framed'' is the seventh studio album by American country band Asleep at the Wheel. Recorded at several studios in Austin and Dallas, Texas, it was produced solely by the band's frontman Ray Benson and released on August 5, 1980, as the group's only album on MCA Records. Following the departure of the group's primary songwriter LeRoy Preston (and other members) in 1978, the original material on ''Framed'' was written primarily by Benson, with Chris O'Connell the only other credited member. Following numerous lineup changes and the band's departure from Capitol Records after five years, ''Framed'' marked a stylistic departure for Asleep at the Wheel, who reduced their regular Bob Wills-influenced Western swing output and explored other genres including rock, easy listening and jazz. Asleep at the Wheel is an American Western swing group that was formed in Paw Paw, West Virginia, and is based in Austin, Texas. The band has won nine Grammy Awards since their 1970 inception, released over twenty albums, and has charted more than 21 singles on the ''Billboard'' country charts. Their highest-charting single, "The Letter That Johnny Walker Read", peaked at No. 10 in 1975. The ''Billboard'' 200 is a record chart ranking the 200 most popular music albums and EPs in the United States. ''Record World'' magazine was one of the three main music industry trade magazines in the United States, along with '' Billboard'' and '' Cashbox''. Johnny Gimble
John Paul Gimble (May 30, 1926 – May 9, 2015) was an American country musician associated with Western swing. Gimble was considered one of the most important fiddlers in the genre. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1999 in the early influences category as a member of Bob Wills and His Texas Playboys. Gimble was posthumously inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2018. Biography Gimble was born in Tyler, Texas, United States, and grew up in nearby Bascom. He began playing in a band with his brothers at age 12, and continued playing with two of them, George and Jerry, as the Rose City Swingsters. The trio played local radio gigs, but soon after Gimble moved to Louisiana and began performing with the Jimmie Davis gubernatorial campaign. ''Comin' Right at Ya'' is the debut album by American western swing band Asleep at the Wheel. Produced by Tommy Allsup at Mercury Records, Mercury Custom Studios in Nashville, Tennessee, it was released in March 1973 as the group's only album on United Artists Records. The album features a variety of traditional and original compositions, including recordings of songs originally by Bob Wills, Hank Williams and Geoff Mack. Most of the original tracks on the album were written by drummer and vocalist LeRoy Preston. Tony Garnier (musician)
Tony Garnier (born May 10, 1955) is an American bassist, best known as an accompanist to Bob Dylan, with whom he has played since 1989. Early life Garnier was born in Saint Paul, Minnesota on May 10, 1955. His grandfather, D'Jalma "Papa" Garnier, was a New Orleans jazz trumpeter and bandleader. Garnier's brother, also named D'Jalma, is a Creole fiddler. Garnier grew up in southern California. Career Garnier joined Dylan's Never Ending Tour band in 1989, and has sometimes been characterized as his musical director.
