Foundation Of Freedom
Foundation of Freedom (''Fondazione della Libertà'') was a liberal-conservative think tank connected to The People of Freedom, a political party in Italy. Founded in 2010 by Altero Matteoli, it can be seen as a continuation of New Alliance, a major faction within National Alliance (merged into PdL in 2009), through the PdL. However, while New Alliance represented the wing of National Alliance closer to the leader Gianfranco Fini, Matteoli and his group distanced from Fini, after that he started to criticize Silvio Berlusconi, and are now much more closer to the latter. Foundation of Freedom is thus a keen supporter of Berlusconi's leadership and opposes the moves of Generation Italy, the minority faction around Fini. Liberal Conservatism
Liberal conservatism is a political ideology combining conservative policies with liberal stances, especially on economic issues but also on social and ethical matters, representing a brand of political conservatism strongly influenced by liberalism. The ideology incorporates the classical liberal view of minimal government intervention in the economy, according to which individuals should be free to participate in the market and generate wealth without government interference. However, liberal conservatives also hold that individuals cannot be thoroughly depended on to act responsibly in other spheres of life; therefore, they believe that a strong state is necessary to ensure law and order and that social institutions are needed to nurture a sense of duty and responsibility to the nation. Ignazio La Russa
Ignazio Benito Maria La Russa (born 18 July 1947) is an Italian politician who is serving as President of the Senate of the Republic since 13 October 2022. He is the first politician with a neo-fascist background to hold the position of President of the Senate, the second highest-ranking office of the Italian Republic. La Russa also served as Minister of Defence in the Berlusconi IV Cabinet from 2008 to 2011, and as Vice President of the Senate of the Republic from 2018 until 2022. Moreover, during his long-time career, he held various posts within his parties. In 2008, he became acting president of the National Alliance, which on 29 March 2009 merged into The People of Freedom, of which he was one of the three national coordinators until 17 December 2012, when he launched Brothers of Italy (FdI).
