Foundation Of Freedom
Foundation of Freedom (''Fondazione della Libertà'') was a liberal-conservative think tank connected to The People of Freedom, a political party in Italy. Founded in 2010 by Altero Matteoli, it can be seen as a continuation of New Alliance, a major faction within National Alliance (merged into PdL in 2009), through the PdL. However, while New Alliance represented the wing of National Alliance closer to the leader Gianfranco Fini, Matteoli and his group distanced from Fini, after that he started to criticize Silvio Berlusconi, and are now much more closer to the latter. Foundation of Freedom is thus a keen supporter of Berlusconi's leadership and opposes the moves of Generation Italy, the minority faction around Fini. Liberal Conservatism
Liberal conservatism is a political ideology combining conservative policies with liberal stances, especially on economic issues but also on social and ethical matters, representing a brand of political conservatism strongly influenced by liberalism. The ideology incorporates the classical liberal view of minimal government intervention in the economy, according to which individuals should be free to participate in the market and generate wealth without government interference. Ignazio La Russa
Ignazio Benito Maria La Russa (born 18 July 1947) is an Italian politician who is serving as President of the Senate of the Republic since 13 October 2022. He is the first politician with a neo-fascist background to hold the position of President of the Senate, the second highest-ranking office of the Italian Republic. La Russa also served as Minister of Defence in the Berlusconi IV Cabinet from 2008 to 2011, and as Vice President of the Senate of the Republic from 2018 until 2022. Movement for Italy (''Movimento per l'Italia'', MpI) was a conservative political party in Italy led by Daniela Santanchè. The Christian Reformists (''Cristiano Riformisti'', CR) are a Christian-democratic faction within New Centre-Right (NCD), a political party in Italy. The group emerged as a faction within National Alliance (AN), a conservative party. Its founders included Antonio Mazzochi (ex- DC), Erder Mazzocchi (ex-DC) and Pietro Armani (ex- PRI). Giovanni "Gianni" Alemanno (born 3 March 1958) is an Italian politician who from April 2008 until June 2013 was Mayor of Rome for the centre-right People of Freedom. He was the Secretary of the National Movement for Sovereignty from 2017 to 2019. Career At an early age Alemanno joined the neo-fascist/post-fascist Italian Social Movement, and although arrested three times he was never convicted. The first arrest took place in Rome on 20 November 1981, when he was accused (along with four others) of intimidating a 23-year-old student, Dario D'Andrea, who was hit on the head by Sergio Mariani, then secretary of the Fronte della Gioventù (the youth organization of the Italian Social Movement). New Italy Foundation (''Fondazione Nuova Italia'') is a national and socially-conservative think tank in Italy. Its president is Gianni Alemanno, a neofascist politician who served as minister of Agriculture in 2001 to 2006 and mayor of Rome in 2008 to 2013. Maurizio Gasparri (Rome, 18 July 1956) is an Italian politician. Gasparri was member of the Italian Social Movement and National Alliance. During the course of his career he has served as Minister of Communications (2001 to 2005 in the Berlusconi II Cabinet). It was during his time in this role that he pushed for the law known popularly as the "legge Gasparri". In the XVI legislature he is the president of the senators of The People of Freedom. Alongside Ignazio La Russa, Gasparri is considered a leader of the AN mainstream faction Destra Protagonista. The People of Freedom ( it, Il Popolo della Libertà, PdL) was a centre-right political party in Italy. The PdL, launched by Silvio Berlusconi on 18 November 2007, was initially a federation of political parties, notably including Forza Italia and National Alliance, which participated as a joint election list in the 2008 general election.
