Fossen (Fauske)
Fossen (literally, 'the waterfall') is a waterfall along the Sjønstå River in Nordland county, Norway. It is about upriver from the Sjønstå farm in the municipality of Fauske. In 1892, the Sulitjelma Line was built between Sjønstå and Fossen, replacing an unimproved road from 1888. Ore from Sulitjelma Mines was transported by boat across '' Langvatnet'' (Long Lake) from Sulitjelma to Fossen, and then by rail from Fossen to Sjønstå to be taken by boat via ''Øvervatnet'' (Upper Lake) and ''Nedrevatnet'' (Lower Lake), so that it could be sent by ship from Finneid along Skjerstad Fjord Skjerstad FjordWelle-Strand, Erling. 1988. Sjønstå
Sjønstå is a settlement in Norway and was officially a village during a brief time when Sulitjelma Mines carried out activity in the area, 1890 to 1956. Before this time, Sjønstå comprised the Sjønstå farm, which is located on '' Øvervatnet'' (Upper Lake) in the municipality of Fauske in Nordland county. The Sjønstå River empties into the lake at Sjønstå. Where it enters the lake, there is a sandy beach on the west side of the river's mouth. There are also natural terraces from moraine deposits. The old farm is located on the sandy beach and the terraces were used for tilled fields and meadows. The Sjønstå farm was given protected status in 2006 by the Norwegian Directorate for Cultural Heritage. It represents a special kind of farm known as a cluster farm ( no, klyngetun); these were typical in Nordland county before 1900 and few of them have been preserved. or is a municipality located in Nordland county, Norway. It is part of the traditional district of Salten. The administrative centre of the municipality is the town of Fauske. Some of the villages in Fauske include Nystad, Venset, Straumsnes, and Sulitjelma. The municipality borders Sweden in the east and the municipalities of Sørfold to the north, Bodø to the west, and Saltdal to the southeast. Sulitjelma Line

Sulitjelma Mines
Sulitjelma Mines ( no, Sulitjelma gruber) was a Norwegian mining company that extracted copper, pyrite, and zinc at Sulitjelma in the municipality of Fauske, Norway. Operations started with a test mine in 1887. From 1891 to 1933, the business was registered as a Swedish company called ''Sulitelma Aktiebolags Gruber''. From 1933 to 1983, it was registered as a Norwegian company called ''A/S Sulitjelma Gruber'', and from 1983 until it was shut down in 1991 the company was state-owned and was named ''Sulitjelma Bergverk AS''. Chalcopyrite was found by the Sami Mons Andreas Petersen around 1858, but due to the very remote location of the place there was skepticism that the deposits could be commercially viable. It was only when the Swedish industrialist and consul Nils Persson gained interest in the ore deposits in 1886 that progress was made in developing mining in Sulitelma.
