or is a municipality located in Nordland county, Norway. It is part of the traditional district of Salten. The administrative centre of the municipality is the town of Fauske. Some of the villages in Fauske include Nystad, Venset, Straumsnes, and Sulitjelma. The municipality borders Sweden in the east and the municipalities of Sørfold to the north, Bodø to the west, and Saltdal to the southeast. The town is located on the northern shore of Skjerstad Fjord. The municipality is the 90th largest by area out of the 356 municipalities in Norway. Fauske is the 117th most populous municipality in Norway with a population of 9,603. Fauske (town)
is a town in Fauske Municipality in Nordland county, Norway. It is also the administrative centre of Fauske Municipality. The town is located on the shore of the Skjerstad Fjord, about east of the town of Bodø and about west of the border with Sweden. The lake Nervatnet lies on the southeast side of the town. The town has a population (2018) of 6,304 and a population density of . The town was established as a "town" in 1998 when the municipal council of Fauske Municipality designated it as such. It is the site of the local municipal government. Fauske Church and the Fauske Upper Secondary School are both located in the town as well. A historic area in the town is also part of the Nordland Museum. There is various types of industry in Fauske, especially industries related to the local mining of marble. Fauske Church
Fauske Church ( no, Fauske kirke) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Fauske Municipality in Nordland county, Norway. It is located in the town of Fauske. It is the church for the Fauske parish which is part of the Salten prosti ( deanery) in the Diocese of Sør-Hålogaland. The white, wooden church was built in a long church style in 1869 using plans drawn up by the architect B. Sneve. The church seats about 280 people. History The people of the Fauske area first petitioned the King for a church in their village in 1841. At that time, Skjerstad Church was the main church for the area, but that was a distance away, across a large fjord. After about 20 years of discussions, requests, and committee meetings debating whether or not to have the church and if so, who would pay for it. , , or is a village in the municipality of Fauske in Nordland county, Norway. Sulitjelma is situated in a lush inland valley at an elevation of above mean sea level, above sea level. It is located on the shore of Langvatnet (Fauske), Langvatnet lake, about southeast of the Fauske (town), town of Fauske. The lakes Låmivatnet, Kjelvatnet (Fauske), Kjelvatnet, and Muorkkejávrre are located to the east and south of the village. The village has a population (2018) of 413 and a population density of . Venset lies on the north shore of Skjerstad Fjord about west of the town of Fauske and about south of the village of Valnesfjord. Transportation Norwegian County Road 530 passes through the village.
