The Foshan Open is a golf tournament on the Challenge Tour. It was played for the first time in October 2013 at the Foshan Golf Club in Foshan, China. It is co-sanctioned by the China Golf Association. Since 2017, it has been part of the China Tour. Foshan (, ), alternately romanized as Fatshan, is a prefecture-level city in central Guangdong Province, China. The entire prefecture covers and had a population of 9,498,863 as of the 2020 census. The city is part of the western side of the Pearl River Delta Economic Zone whose built-up (or metro) area was home to 65,694,622 inhabitants as of 2020 (excluding Hong Kong not conurbated yet), making it the biggest urban area of the world. 2018 China Tour
The 2018 China Tour was the first season of the China Tour to carry Official World Golf Ranking points. The season consisted of 10 events, three of which were co-sanctioned by the Challenge Tour and one by the Asian Tour. Björn Oskar Ingemar Åkesson (born 4 January 1989) is a Swedish professional golfer that has played on the European Tour. He won the 2023 Nordic Golf League Order of Merit. Amateur career Åkesson had a successful youth career and played for the Swedish National Team. In 2006, he was runner-up at the Boys Amateur Championship and became the youngest ever winner of the Duncan Putter at Southerndown Golf Club in Wales, until the event was won by 15-year-old Tim Harry in 2013. Borja Virto Astudillo (born 4 February 1991) is a Spanish professional golfer. Virto played college golf at Iowa State University for two years. Virto played on the Alps Tour in 2014, winning twice, and finishing fourth on the Order of Merit. Matthieu Pavon (born 2 November 1992) is a French professional golfer who plays on the European Tour. Personal life His father is former French professional footballer Michel Pavon. Professional career After turning professional Pavon played on the Alps Tour in 2014 and 2015. He won the Open International de Rebetz in 2014 and the Servizitalia Open in 2015. Marcus Ashley Philip Armitage (born 15 July 1987) is an English professional golfer. He won the 2021 Porsche European Open on the European Tour. Professional career Armitage turned professional in 2008. He played on the PGA EuroPro Tour in 2013, earning rookie of the year honours. Sebastian Heisele (born 8 August 1988) is a German professional golfer who plays on the European Tour. He won the 2019 Open de Bretagne on the Challenge Tour. Amateur career Heisele was born in the Netherlands and grew up in Dubai, playing golf from the age of 12. He attended the University of Colorado Boulder from 2007 to 2011, graduating with a bachelor's degree in architecture. Oliver James Farr (born 25 March 1988) is a Welsh professional golfer who plays on the European Tour. He has won three times on the Challenge Tour. Professional career Farr played on mini-tours after turning professional. He finished first on the 2013 PGA EuroPro Tour Order of Merit to earn his Challenge Tour card for 2014.
