Flyin' High (Wink Album)
is the 14th studio album by Japanese idol duo Wink, released by Polystar on July 5, 1995. It features the singles " Watashitachi Rashii Rule" and " Jive Into the Night (Yaban na Yoru ni) yper Euro Mix. Also included in the album are Japanese-language covers of Chuck Wild's "One Kiss at a Time", Chaka Khan's " Ain't Nobody", and Tasha's "My Turn". ''Flyin' High'' saw the duo abandon the retro pop sound from their two previous albums and return to their dance pop roots. It was also the first album since ''Aphrodite'' to feature songs by songwriter Neko Oikawa. The album became the duo's final studio release before disbanding in 1996 as a result of declining popularity and record sales. Wink (duo)
was a Japanese idol duo in the late 1980s and early-to-mid-1990s composed of and . They released their first single on April 27, 1988, and their final release was on March 31, 1996. Many of their singles topped the Oricon charts in Japan, including their biggest hit, "Samishii Nettaigyo". History In 1987, Sachiko Suzuki and Shoko Aida both entered a beauty contest given by the magazine ''Up to bBoy''. Suzuki won 7th place and formed Wink with 9th place winner Aida the next year, and in April they debuted with the single "Sugar Baby Love", a cover of an English song by The Rubettes. From that point on, many of Wink's early songs were covers of Western songs, but with Japanese lyrics; while many of their later songs were original works written by Japanese composers. Yasushi Akimoto
is a Japanese record producer, lyricist, and television writer, best known for creating and producing some of Japan's top idol groups, Onyanko Club and the AKB48 franchise. Total sales of the singles he has written exceed 100 million copies, making him the best-selling lyricist in Japan. Career Akimoto created the ''Chakushin Ari'' (''One Missed Call'') horror franchise, which began with his novel of the same name and was first brought to film in 2003 before being remade by Hollywood in 2008. Shoko Aida
is a female J-pop artist and actress. She was born in Higashimurayama, Tokyo, and debuted as a member of the J-Pop duo Wink. She began working as a solo artist on 1 April 1996, one month after Wink dissolved. She collaborated with Kaori Iida from Morning Musume for one DVD and one photobook in 2004. She got married in 2008 and in 2012, she gave birth to her first child, a girl. Hawk Wolinski
David James "Hawk" Wolinski (born May 13, 1948) is an American keyboardist, songwriter and record producer, best known for his work with the funk band Rufus and their lead singer Chaka Khan. Biography Wolinski grew up in Chicago, Illinois, and in the late 1960s was the keyboard player and lead singer of the band the Males, and a member of the bands Shadows of Knight and Bangor Flying Circus. When the latter band broke up he helped form the band Madura, which was produced by fellow Chicagoan James William Guercio. Guercio used Madura in his 1973 film ''Electra Glide in Blue''. In the 1960s Wolinski formed a short-lived band in Chicago called the Electric Band. They played regularly at a club called The Cellar. In the late 1970s Wolinski joined Rufus as a keyboardist and songwriter. (born February 10, 1960) is a Japanese lyricist who has written J-pop and anime theme songs over her career. Biography Neko Oikawa was born in Wakayama, Wakayama. She made her songwriting debut in 1985 with Kanako Wada's "Passing Through", which won the Mitsubishi Minica Mascot Song Contest. During her time with Fuji Pacific Music, Oikawa wrote songs for numerous Japanese idols; most notably the duo Wink. In 1989, her song "Samishii Nettaigyo" for Wink won the Grand Prix at the 31st Japan Record Awards and the 22nd All Japan Wired Broadcasting Awards. In 1994, her song "Tokyo" for Yashiki Takajin won the Yomiuri TV Best Award and Special Award at the All Japan Cable Broadcasting Awards. Tasha Viets-VanLear, better known as just Tasha, is an American musician from Chicago. Early life Tasha was born and raised in the Albany Park neighborhood of Chicago. Tasha grew up involved in theater and poetry. Tasha attended Northside College Preparatory High School as well as St. Olaf College.
