Flatanger is a List of municipalities of Norway, municipality in Trøndelag Counties of Norway, county, Norway. It is part of the Namdalen Districts of Norway, region. The administrative centre of the municipality is the village of Lauvsnes. Other villages include Jøssund, Flatanger, Jøssund, Hasvåg, and Vik, Trøndelag, Vik. The municipality is the 217th largest by area out of the 356 municipalities in Norway. Flatanger is the 326th most populous municipality in Norway with a population of 1,101. The municipality's population density is and its population has decreased by 3.5% over the previous 10-year period. Flatanger is also known for having some of the most difficult sport climbing routes in the world. Vik Church (Flatanger)
Vik Church ( no, Vik kirke) or Flatanger Church ( no, Flatanger kirke) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Flatanger municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. It is located in the village of Vik. It is the main church for the Flatanger parish which is part of the Namdal prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Nidaros. The white, wooden church was built in a long church style in 1873 using plans drawn up by the architect Jacob Wilhelm Nordan. The church seats about 300 people. History The earliest existing historical records of the church date back to the year 1468, but it was not new that year. The old church was likely a stave church that was built in the 14th century. The church was located on the island of Halmøya, about north of the present church site. The church stood on the southeast coast of the island, about from the beach. Løvøy Church
Løvøy Church or Nord-Flatanger Church ( no, Løvøy kirke / ) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Flatanger municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. It is located on the island of Lauvøya, just north of the village of Lauvsnes. It is one of the two churches for the Flatanger parish which is part of the Namdal prosti ( deanery) in the Diocese of Nidaros. The white, wooden church was built in a long church style in 1872 using plans drawn up by the architect Jakobsen. The church seats about 200 people. History The church was built after the old church site was moved from Halmøya island to the present site of Vik Church in the southern part of the municipality. This church was built further north to serve that portion of the municipality. The foundation stone was laid on 9 July 1871 and then it was consecrated on 2 August 1872 by Bishop Andreas Grimelund. Lauvøya (sometimes ''Løvøya'') is an island in the municipality of Flatanger in Trøndelag county, Norway. The island sits just off the mainland coast, across from the village of Lauvsnes. The main church for northern Flatanger, Løvøy Church, is located on the island. The island has been connected to the mainland by a bridge since 1990. Lauvsnes is the administrative centre of the municipality of Flatanger in Trøndelag county, Norway. The village is located along the shore, about northeast of the village of Vik. Lauvsnes has some small industry as well as fish farming. The island of Løvøya lies just north of the village. This list of churches in Nidaros is a list of the Church of Norway churches in the Diocese of Nidaros which covers all of Trøndelag county in Norway. The list is divided into several sections, one for each deanery in the diocese. Bjørøya
Bjørøya is an island in the Folda sea, just south of the Namsenfjorden in the municipality of Flatanger in Trøndelag county, Norway. The island lies about east of the island of Villa and about north of the island of Lauvøya. The island has several large peat bogs as well as a farm. Nord-Trøndelag (; "North Trøndelag") was a county constituting the northern part of the present-day Trøndelag county in Norway. The county was established in 1804 when the old Trondhjems amt was divided into two: Nordre Trondhjems amt and Søndre Trondhjems amt. Villa, Norway
Villa is an island in the municipality of Flatanger in Trøndelag county, Norway. The island lies in the Folda sea about northwest of the village of Lauvsnes on the mainland and about west of the island of Bjørøya. The Villa Lighthouse is located on the western part of the island. Trøndelag (; sma, Trööndelage) is a county in the central part of Norway. It was created in 1687, then named Trondhjem County ( no, Trondhjems Amt); in 1804 the county was split into Nord-Trøndelag and Sør-Trøndelag by the King of Denmark-Norway, and the counties were reunited in 2018 after a vote of the two counties in 2016.
