Five Star Island is an island of Bermuda. Geography Five Star Island, also known as Wilson Island is situated in the Little Sound on the North Coast of Bermuda in the Parish of Southampton. Owners Until 2012, Five Star Island was owned by one of Bermuda's wealthiest residents, Curt Engelhorn who, according to Forbes had a net worth as of March 2012 of $6.6 billion. Originally from Germany, Engelhorn is a resident of Gstaad, Switzerland who owned a major share holding in the Bermuda-registered German pharmaceutical multinational company, Corange Ltd. Southampton Parish, Bermuda
Southampton Parish is one of the nine parishes of Bermuda. It is named for Henry Wriothesley, 3rd Earl of Southampton (1573-1624). It is located in the southwest of the island chain, occupying all of the western part of the main island, except for the westernmost tip (which is part of Sandys Parish). It includes the chain's southernmost point, and its north coast comprises much of the coast of the Little Sound (an arm of the Great Sound, the large expanse of water which dominates the geography of western Bermuda). in the east it is joined to Warwick Parish. As with most of Bermuda's parishes, it covers just over 2.3 square miles (about 6.0 km2 or 1500 acres). It had a population of 6,421 in 2016. Curt Rudolf Glover Engelhorn (25 May 1926 – 13 October 2016) was a German billionaire heir and businessman, the great-grandson of Friedrich Engelhorn, the founder of the chemical company BASF. Education Engelhorn graduated with a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from the University of Texas at Austin.
