FilmArtFestival Mecklenburg-Pomerania
The FilmArtFestival Mecklenburg-Pomerania (German: ''filmkunstfest Mecklenburg-Vorpommern'') is held annually in the city of Schwerin in the German state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. It was founded in 1991 and it is one of the largest film festivals in eastern Germany, attracting more than 17,000 visitors. It has competitions for best German-language feature film, documentary film and short film produced or co-produced in Germany, Austria or Switzerland. The main prize is the ''Fliegender Ochse'' ('Flying Ox'), a nod the ox on the coat of arms of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The main prize is endowed with 10,000 Euros given by the Ministry of Education, Science and Culture of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The Findling Award is given by the Verband für Filmkommunikation, an umbrella organization for art house cinemas and film clubs. The festival usually takes place in the first week of May. Schwerin
Schwerin (; Mecklenburgisch dialect, Mecklenburgian Low German: ''Swerin''; Latin: ''Suerina'', ''Suerinum'') is the Capital city, capital and List of cities and towns in Germany, second-largest city of the northeastern States of Germany, German state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern as well as of the region of Mecklenburg, after Rostock. Hannelore Elsner
Hannelore Elsner (; born Hannelore Elstner; 26 July 1942 – 21 April 2019) was a German actress with a long career in television and film. She first performed on stage in Munich, and later starred in popular films and television series such as ''Die Schwarzwaldklinik'' (''The Black Forest Clinic''), and as the lead character, Inspector Lea Sommer, in the series ''Die Kommissarin''. She was recognized internationally for her lead role in the 2000 film ''Die Unberührbare'' ('' No Place to Go''), shown at the Cannes Film Festival. The International Federation of Film Critics (FIPRESCI, short for Fédération Internationale de la PRESse CInématographique) is an association of national organizations of professional film critics and film journalists from around the world for "the promotion and development of film culture and for the safeguarding of professional interests." Otto Sander (; 30 June 1941 – 12 September 2013) was a German film, theater, and voice actor. Life Education and early career Sander grew up in Kassel, where he graduated in 1961 from the Friedrichgymnasium. After leaving school he spent his military service in 1961/62 with the Bundesmarine and left as reserve fenrik. Sander then studied theatre science, history of art and philosophy. Katrin Sass (, for a time Katrin Saß) is a German actress. She became known internationally for playing the idealistic socialist mother Christiane Kerner in the 2003 tragicomedy ''Good Bye, Lenin!'' Manfred Krug
Manfred Krug (; 8 February 1937 – 21 October 2016) was a German actor, singer and author. Life and work Born in Duisburg, Krug moved to East Germany at the age of 13, and worked at a steel plant before beginning his acting career on the stage and, ultimately, in film. By the end of the 1950s he had several film roles, and in 1960 he appeared in Frank Beyer's successful war movie ''Fünf Patronenhülsen'' (''Five Cartridges''). Many more film roles followed, with Krug often cast as a socialist hero. Krug also achieved notability as a popular jazz singer, often in collaboration with composer Günther Fischer. Michael Ballhaus, A.S.C. (5 August 1935 – 12 April 2017) was a German cinematographer who collaborated with directors such as Rainer Werner Fassbinder, Martin Scorsese, Mike Nichols and James L. Klaus Maria Brandauer (; born Klaus Georg Steng; 22 June 1943) is an Austrian actor and director. He is also a professor at the Max Reinhardt Seminar.
